Former Nigerian international Dele Aiyenugba believes the Super Eagles should stick with Stanley Nwabali as the team’s first choice goalkeeper after Nigeria’s 3-0 win over Benin.
He made this known on Saturday’s when he was a guest on the AfroSports 2025 Africa Cup of Nations program.
Aiyenugba, who hailed Nwabali’s two quick saves in the second half that could have seen Benin leveled parity, stated that he has been impressive with the Super Eagles.

“I think the Super Eagles must stick with Nwabali as first choice because he has done really well for Nigeria. He made two vital saves in the second half that could have leveled parity for Benin.
“Yes, Maduka Okoye has been doing well with his club Udinese in the Serie A, but then I want to believe his time will come.
“I love the competition in the goalkeeping department for the Super Eagles, and I know it will definitely be good for the team.”

I think Nwabali is the real deal in this match. If that shot has been at the back of the net, then we wound have struggled in the match . That’s what happened to us against Tunisia in afcon, and Ghana, in the play off that goalkeepers let us down.
Nwabali is the real man
Maduka Okoye is a safe hands as well. We need to consider long term Project Maduka is the person.
Don’t forget that Maduka Okoye had the opportunity to be Super Eagles main keeper when the post was handed over to him. That’s why it’s always good to make the best use of your opportunity as it maybe more competitive in the future.
Dele stop that nonsense. What you want is for Maduka to stop coming so that your son will come to Eagles when he is not ripe.
