2026 WCQ: Blame Peseiro For Super Eagles Poor Result Against Lesotho –Esin

Former Nigerian international, Etim Esin has blamed Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro for Nigeria’s shaky start to the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Recall that the Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Thursday.

The three-time African champions went behind to a team ranked 153rd in the world, with Motlomelo Mkhwanazi scoring with their first shot on target.

However, Semi Ajayi’s powerful header rescued a point for Nigeria in the 67th minute.

In a chat with Completesports.com, Etim questioned the Portuguese tactician’s tactical and technical know-how.

“When you have a result like that the questions that comes to mind is, don’t you have a coach. We had a bad result and Peseiro should be blamed for it.

“Imagine Lesotho scoring Nigeria first and we are struggling to equalise. Well, it’s just the starting of the World Cup qualifying but the way we started is not impressive at all.

“It’s painful that we didn’t get a positive result to kickstart our campaign but I am hopeful of the best from the Super Eagles.”

The Super Eagles face Zimbabwe on Sunday, November 19, at the Huye Stadium, Butare.

  • Even this coach won’t get any result on Saturday. This coach has invited only strikers, defenders and set of supporting strikers. No goal keeper, no real creative midfielder and you guys expect result, oti ho.

Super Eagles will struggle to beat Zimbabwe, Mark my word

How can they beat Zimbabwe on a synthetic grass. A very difficult to play on for those who are not used to it like our players. And this is the ground they have played on and have been practicing since and have perfected playing on the ground. Nobody should expect any positive result from the Eagles especially without Osimhen.
      Anyway good luck to them.

SACK THIS COACH NOW. SINCE HE HAS TAKEN OVER THE TEAM, HE HAS NOT REALLY CONVINCE ME OF HIS TECHNICAL KNOW HOW.

WITH THIS COACH, I BET NIGERIA IN GOING NO WHERE, NATION CUP WILL BE A DISASTER.

Tell the World what this coach has done for Nigeria ????????. Nothing. l said NOTHING. He keeps playing Uzoho, who is a ‘basket goalkeeper’, instead of Obasogie. He keeps using Lookman who is only good for his Club and not for the Nation. He keeps using Aribo who do not even understand why he is been chosen to play for the Nation. Awo is now known as “Awo-miss-it”. Why did this stupid coach invited Tella if he was not going to use him? Folks, if you ever believe that this coach will take us to the World Cup, l have ‘Ovia Bridge’ to sell you. Now, l am betting on Zimbabwe to take Nigeria to the Gallow on Sunday. Enjoy your cold weekend. Thank God, it is sunning in a Sunshine State.

The players are not the problem but the coaching pattern of plays and tactical ability.

If Nigeria does not qualify for the world cup hold both the coach and the NFF responsible. You have most of your players playing in Europe and most of them played over the weekend then you have only one day to prepare for a world cup qualifiers, meanwhile your other opponent South Africa will be playing today Saturday. Why would the NFF accept this kind of arrangement when we can still play on Wednesday 21st. This administrative blunder is really unfortunate.

Nff is Nigeria no bi so ..dey don’t have people thinking for dem .. u think politicians will think for you .. even the officer in the ministry got there as a result of closeness to a strong man . If u raise a good point u could be on the black book not to talk of a fault in d department.even who is the media officer of the team sef.does he communicate development of other team to the invited players. Na only dance video. Go see Ghana training in for a game . U no dey are ready to break their legs to get a win . But eagles na house to post dancing styles sing dancing tune .i no there is another fellowship in heaven..wat is the meaning of that .. dey know best.
I was even thinking morinho wil help paceiro. And wen u hear him speak English sef ..how do the players feel .I hope one day he wil not get red card the way he wants to push his boys to go score .if dey lose against Zimbabwe I no some people wil never get invited to eagles again.
