Nigerian duo Samuel Ogazi and Edidiong Udo have qualified for final of the men’s 400 metre, at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Ogazi absolutely dominated the first semifinal in a time of 44.52s, finishing well ahead of Lee Eppie of Botswana; who ran 45.26s and Jamaica’s Zandriom Barnes in 45.38s.
Running from lane eight, Udo produced another composed performance to clock 45.53s, initially crossing the line in third before being promoted to second following the disqualification of Antonio Watson of Jamaica.
In the women’s category Patience Okon-George and Esther Joseph finished 5th and 6th respectively in the 400m semifinal 1 thereby missing out on the chance to win a medal.
Okon-George ran 53.21s, just ahead of Joseph in 53.26s, with both athletes out of the final.
Meanwhile, Tobi Amusan dropped the fastest time ever run at the Commonwealth Games in the women’s 100mH, storming to victory in her heat in 12.19s (+3.8)!
She eased through her heat into the final ahead of Marione Fourie of South Africa who ran 12.50s and Kerrica Hill of Jamaica in 12.69s.
