Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo says it would be a big privilege and honour to manage the three-time African champions in future, Completesports.com reports.
Yobo is currently assistant to Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr and is gratefully absorbing the German’s wisdom.
Rohr’s contract with the Nigeria Football Federation will expire at the end of 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the former defender is not ruling out the possibility of succeeding his boss.
“National team head coach is one of the biggest jobs in Nigeria,” Yobo told evertonfc.com.

“It would be a privilege and honour if, someday, I could be in that position.
“If I didn’t think about it that way, why start?
“I had that conversation [with his country’s FA]… now I have to understudy to learn.”
The former Marseille defender was capped 101 times by Nigeria and was captain when the Super Eagles won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
He also appeared at three FIFA World Cups.

Bro go get your coaching licence…if this guy is given the SE job after world cup (without any licence) then SE is in trouble.
Even with a licence I don’t trust the super eagles in the care of an indigenous coach.
Is either Rohr’s contract is renewed or we go for another good foreign coach but I would prefer Rohr to carry on with a renewed contract to last for another 4 years after the 2022 world cup should we qualify.
I believe this story is simply meant to sample the public (sport fans) opinion on Yobo taking over someday after Rohr.
Please guys let’s all unanimously say no to this, the guy has to first go get his coaching licence sorted and then get a club in NPFL to prove his worth before considering to coach our dear SE
He will be calling Apostle Suleman for miracles before every match. Nigeria doesn’t need him as coach of the National team until he gets a coaching license, handle club sides to prove he’s up to the task, then we can talk about National team job. We don’t want someone who’s going to be learning on the job, we already did that with Sunday Olise and it didn’t work out well for neither Nigeria nor Olise. We need something who already knows the job to succeed Rhor should NFF with their incompetent selves refuse to extend his stay beyond 2022.
Yobo needs about 8 to 10 years of club coaching experience, after that he can evaluate himself and his achievements before thinking of head coaching position with the National team.
U never manage ordinary chan or home based team or even our u21 and your’re here already thinking of managing the super eagles. Oga, U dont learn coaching by just sitting on the bench like a dummy whenever the super eagles play matches, u learn coaching by going for refresher courses within and outside nigeriap. U should be ashamed of yourself for making this kind of statemnent. Any way, na picnic and the chief ex cricket international made u think u can coach the eagles without a coaching certificate. Stop being a lazy ex international with huge dreams, you need to work hard for your dreams to come true.
