Probably thinking before the game she would annihilate your team single handedly!Bet you were disappointed by the superstars output after 90 minutes!Hahaha your idol nonetheless!

  • Injuries have taken an unfortunate toll on Oshoala rubbing her of much bite in Super Falcons colours.

To be honest, she is no longer the trojan horse to be singled out by Super Falcons opponents. This tag has, in my view, has gone to Rasheedat Ajibade. She is the proverbial nuisance in offensive areas for Nigeria. Uchenna Kanu is effective but only sporadically.

Ifeoma Onumonu is an enigma whilst Gift Monday is yet to be imposing.

But my question is, was Oshoala actually ever a big-game player for the Super Falcons? I think so.

Before 2019 she was explosive in Wafcons, Wafcon qualifiers and in 2 world cups. But I think her influence has weakened in recent times largely due to injuries in my view.

This has made her easily readable and slightly profligate when presented with tasty opportunities.

I know nothing about football but, if I were the Super Falcons coach, I will deploy Oshoala more as a winger because she still has the strength to shrug off attention and the pace to outrun markers. But it is so painful seeing her miss guilt edged chances which is why I can’t trust her to be the main sniper.

In Barcelona, she can afford to miss 9 out of 10 scoring chances. For Nigeria, this can be fatal. Against Ethiopia away, we expected her to make something out of nothing but she actually made nothing our of something in the tasty chances missed.

“…we expected her to make something out of nothing but she actually made nothing our of something in the tasty chances missed…”

This statement above is the reason why the nickname “agba baller” sounds more like a misnomer, an antithesis of some sort.

The last I saw of Assisat was at the 2019 WC. I’ve not seen her in the SF ever since.

I wish Asisat the best of luck as she strives to get back to her best. People are wont to crucify stars when they underperform but lack the ability to urge them back to the top. Everyone needs to be encouraged at difficult times
