Abd’Allah Revels In Enyimba Win Over Sunshine, 5-Game Unbeaten Run

Enyimba Technical adviser, Usman Abd’Allah is pleased to see his side grind out a 2-1 win over Sunshine Stars of Akure in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League clash at the Enyimba International Stadium Aba, reports Completesports.com.

Dare Olatunji scored the opener for the seven-time NPFL champions before Ifeanyi Anaemena doubled the lead from the spot. However, Israel Abia’s header fifteen minutes from time set up a nervy finish but Enyimba saw out the game to claim their fifth win of the season.

Enyimba are now unbeaten in their last five NPFL games since they lost 2-1 away to Wikki Tourist on matchday-7 in Bauchi.

Abd’Allah is however not satisfied that his team could not keep a clean sheet as he faults his defenders for the goal conceded.

“I am happy with the performance of the boys, only that in the last few minutes, maybe the last ten minutes, they just snapped off. I don’t know why all of a sudden there was a lot of confusion among the defenders,” Abd’Allah said in his post-match interview.

“And that goal that was conceded, I’m not happy with that goal. It was very uncalled for and I’m very disappointed with that. That goal you could see was just a cheap give away. It’s nothing. I will address that in the next training session.”

Abd’Allah is however full of praises for Dare Olatunji who, despite joining the squad from national team assignment, churned out a decent showing and scored his first competitive goal for Enyimba.

“I purposely asked for him because I still have somebody that can come in to play that position, but I asked for him because I needed him over there. I know I have confidence in him and I’m not surprised with his performance.

“These boys that are in this national team, we have to keep calling them so that they get acquainted with this Enyimba team also. It’s a national team but we also have to get these players to get attached to our club so that anytime they come in they fit into the team very well.”

Enyimba’s next league game is a trip to Group A leaders, MFM.
