Abia Comets FC, a Nigeria National League (NNL) side, has unveiled Coach Monday Eguavoen as the club’s new Technical Director, Completesports.com reports.
The club also presented Dipreye Teibowei to the media and supporters as the new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League season, tentatively scheduled to kick off in October 2025.
Monday Eguavoen: Veteran With a Football Heritage
The 60-year-old tactician is the elder brother of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Director and former a super Eagles defender, Augustine Eguavoen.

Both Coach Eguavoen and Teibowei have signed initial one-year contracts, with a renewable clause subject to performance at the end of the 2025/2026 season.
Teibowei Arrive Abia Comets With ‘Computer-Like’ Precision
Fifty-five-year-old Teibowei, fondly called “Computer”, last worked with Bayelsa United FC as Technical Adviser, before Ladan Bosso replaced him ahead of the 2024/2025 campaign.
The duo were unveiled during a short but colourful ceremony in Umuahia on Wednesday, 6 August 2025.
Both coaches expressed their commitment to rebuilding the club and delivering positive results in the upcoming season.
Club Chairman Explains Appointment Decision
Boniface Alozie, Executive Chairman of the Abia Comets Management Committee, shared reasons for the appointments.
“The two coaches were selected based on merit and their proven records in the game,” Alozie said.

He pledged his full support to the technical team in ensuring the club achieves its objectives in the new NNL season.
Abia Comets Pre-season Resumption Date Confirmed
Abia Comets have set 18 August 2025 as the official resumption date for the new season. Both returning and newly signed players are expected to report to camp by 15 August 2025 in preparation for pre-season training and league action.
