Abraham, Tomori In Line To Sign Chelsea Contracts Extension

Chelsea have started negotiations to improve contracts of Nigerian-born duo, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori.

According to reports in British media, the Blues are willing to roll out five-year contract to each of the duo following their impressive start to the season.

Abraham, 21, has found the back of the net seven times in seven competitive matches, including a hat-trick at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

His current contract which he signed in 2017, will will run through to 2022.

For Tomori, he has started Chelsea’s last three competitive games, also getting on the scoresheet in the 5-2 win at Wolves.

Tomori was ever-present on loan at Derby County last season, under Frank Lampard’s watch, with the Rams reaching the Championship play-off final, but losing 2-1 to Abraham’s Villa.

The move to tie Abraham and Tomori’s future at Stamford Bridge is a sign they are part of Lampard’s rebuilding project.

It also puts both players in the spotlight about where their international allegiance lies. Abraham and Tomori are both eligible to play for either England or Nigeria but are yet to decide which country to switch to.

Chelsea are fresh from a disappointing 1-0 Champions League Group H loss to Valencia at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, but will return to Premier League action this Sunday against table toppers, Liverpool at home.
