The West African nation claimed a total of 12 medals — four gold, five silver, and three bronze.

The quartet of Esther Okon, Toheebat Jimoh, Jecinter Lawrence, and Patience Okon-George clocked a time of 3:29.25 to win the race.
South Africa successfully retained its title in Ghana after winning 20 medals — nine gold, three silver, and eight bronze.
Kenya and Ethiopia were the other nations that finished ahead of the country in the standings.
