FAAN and Ogudu ladies tennis clubs emerged champions at the Adejumo Tennis Club Ladies Tournament 2024 which took place at the Adejumo Tennis and Sports Development Centre in Ejigbo, Lagos on Saturday.
FAAN won the Doubles title while Joke of the Ogudu Ladies Tennis Club won the Singles title of the event on Adejumo Tennis Club Road, Ilamoshe Estate, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Ejigbo, Lagos State.
The Doubles final was such an interesting game of lawn tennis to behold with FAAN having to come from 3-1 down to win the title after they eventually defeated Ogudu Ladies Tennis Club 6-4.
According to the Tournament Coordinator, Adenike Adepoju, the event helps to showcase the talent and dedication of female athletes within the community where the Adejumo Tennis Club is based.
“Our Ladies Tennis Tournament has always been an exciting celebration of skill, sportsmanship, team spirit, and community development,” Adepoju said about the second edition of the tournament.
“The tournament showcases the talent and dedication of female athletes within our community, emphasizing the spirit of friendly competition and athletic excellence.
“It is a source of inspiration and encouragement to the participants as it is filled with exhilarating tennis matches, camaraderie, and the opportunity to engage with other families and enthusiasts of the sport.”
Tennis development in Nigeria has for some time experienced a form of decline, however, Adejumo Tennis Club has offered a lifeline for the young and aspiring tennis players who will hope to represent the nation at the international level in years to come.

Lagos is the only State where things are happening. Too bad for Nigeria. I challenge other states to follow suite.
