Adelani Sets Season Goal Target For Go Round

Go Round FC of Omoku youngster Adeseun Adelani has laid down the season’s marker for himself and the NPFL clubside after his goal and Man of the Match performance helped his club earn a draw against visiting Katsina United at the Krisdera Hotel Stadium on Thursday, Completesports.com reports.

The visitors took the lead when Abdulaziz Umar’s pullout from the left flank  was tapped in by Ikechukwu Nwani on 26th minutes against the run of play.

Adelani nearly drew his side level in the 40th minute when his stunning free-kick went past the wall but was saved by the timely intervention of the Katsina goalkeeper.

Two minutes later the 19-year old wonderkid made amends when he latched on to Nwogbaga Chidubem’s pass to calmly level scores.

With his second goal in just four appearances this season, Adelani reckons he can be among the league’s top scorers, while also hoping to play his way into any of the national teams.

“As long as I get to play, the only thing on my mind is to help my team to win with my goals. With enough playing time, I can score as many as any other striker in the league because I believe in my ability and I enjoy the confidence of my teammates,” Adelani told Completesports.com.

The pacy forward is also of the opinion that he’s good enough to play for any of the national teams and hopes to do enough to merit a callup.

He said: “It’s a good year with all the national teams involved in one competition or the other, so I think if I do well enough for my club I could get called up to the Flying Eagles or the U-23 Eagles team. All I need is just an opportunity to show what I can do.”

The former Gateway youngster also vows to help his club finish as high as possible in the league table at the end of the season.

“We have a good team of  young players here and I’m happy to play with them. Hopefully we can continue to improve our game so that we could be among the frontrunners at the end of the day,” he concluded.

Go Round, who are fifth in the Group B table, will  travel to Gombe United on Wednesday where Adelani hopes to increase his goal tally.
