AFCON 2021: ‘We Gave Our 100 Per Cent Against Tunisia’ —Eagles Captain, Musa

Ahmed Musa says the Super Eagles gave 100 per cent against Tunisia but it was not enough to see them progress to the quarter-finals.

Despite going into the game as underdogs, the Carthage Eagles pipped the Eagles 1-0 thanks to Youssef Msakni’s strike.

Both teams went into the contest in contrasting fashion as the Eagles won all their three group games while Tunisia emerged as one of the third best placed teams.

And reacting to the disappointing ouster of the Eagles from the competition, Musa assured football fans that the team will bounce back.

He wrote on Twitter:”In life, things wouldn’t always go the way we want them to and that’s something we have to accept however hard it is. We gave our 100% & unfortunately that wasn’t good enough to take us through.

“We won’t give up, we will do better next time. Thanks for all your support and prayers🙏“

Prior to the start of the AFCON 2021 Musa announced that this year’s tournament will be his last.

    You guys gave nothing !!…you guys were totally nerve and in experienced!!..before the tournament you were under dogs, no body gave you guys a chance against Egypt and you showed why you were called the super eagles by playing Egypt hands down .

    Against Tunisia , by then you were named the most entertaining team of the tournament, your coach the best coach of the group and Tunisia came in as one of the best losers , so you underated them , ego and big headed set in , you guys never gave them a chance and they messed you guys up !!..You guys inexperience and nativity came when Iheanacho was stamp upon by a Tunisian, Iheanacho stayed down but none of eagles players rush to the referee for a review !.. Iheanacho was holding his leg and stayed down and the Captain /players should have forced the referee to watch a VAR replay , you just keep on playing !!, that is nativity!!..same goes for a penalty not awarded , you guys could have done the same to force the referee for VAR decision, we got nothing from you guys in terms of on Field reactions!!..mumu players!!.. Cameroon won because of VAR, Tunisia because of VAR, Senegal is now about to win because of VAR!! …finally the coach never had a good tactics , can’t change one and clueless on how to deal with the Tunisian!!..so you never gave your all , you wasted the opportunity to give Eagles /Nigeria another Afcon cup before the next one in order to make it five !!

  • Even if you give 100,000% instead of 100%, if the coaches can’t read the match and make the necessary adjustments, you will come back safely to Nigeria with your 100,000% without achieving anything with it. Just like one of the commentators said here yesterday, the consortium of coaches doesn’t know their left from their right, they will just pour eleven players into the field and ask them to do whatsoever they like, as professionals. I really agree with the comment because even me that is not even a former player not to talk of coach, 24-hours before the Tunisia heartbreak, I said it here that Moses Simon should be instructed not to dribble. Let focus fully on passing and crossing. Then bring in Iwobi to number 10 and let Iheanacho lead the attack. I didn’t just wake up to write all that. I had to consider so many factors, especially the team’s balance before I arrived at that. But Mr. Pour and play continued pouring exactly the same players with the same lineup, formation and tactics without any single change. Perhaps he thought it was the only wise man that came to AFCON

  • If they performed like the Algerians you guys would have koko kill them. Luck wasn’t on our side period, the ball was on its way to okoye it swaved to the other side and okoye was able to get his hands on it an the penalty wasn’t given because the var didn’t bother to check it’s luck. There is nothing they could have done ekong did protested but since the var is not telling the ref to stop play the player can’t do anything. Since I have seen how the ball changed direction so quickly I know okoye stands no chance because he is 6ft6 tall so it’s kinda hard for him to get down that easy and parred it away he tried his best and people wishing him death should die now if they don’t change their habits of cursing. Do you think this won’t pain them too? Hell they aren’t doing this for you or the motherf**king nation it’s for themselves is it the fans that would collect the medals or the prize money

    @Mayans , well said .
    So many factors were against SE, the early yellow card picked by senior Man affected his game and unfortunately the red card picked by Nwobi with referee also working for the script of power that be.

    If was such a painful loos because no one give them any chance prior the Afcon tournament going by their mediocre performance which lead to the sacking of the white gaffer ; was sacked , but the mouthwatering performance of the team in the group stages where our players shown like a million stars ⭐️ gave us hope .

    All the players surely deserve our accolades, including the goalkeeper so that it will not affect his morale and performance negatively

  • Is a pit that somebody like musa was included in that list to afcon it shows the level of super eagles quality….no level self my question is how do we even selected players to super eagles is it by tribe, religion, like , i guess it should have been merit and professional.
