AFCON 2021: ‘Why I Didn’t Find It Difficult To Adapt As A Right-back Against Guinea-Bissau’ –Ndah

Super Eagles right-back, Olisa Ndah has disclosed that the instructions he received from Austine Eguavoen made it more easier for him to adapt as a right back against Guinea-Bissau in Wednesday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Olisa, who was making his AFCON debut came on for Tyronne Ebuehi in the 76th minutes and gave a good account of himself.

In a chat with the Super Eagles media officer, Ndah stated that he was delighted to have made his AFCON debut in good style.

“It’s a massive feeling and I am privilege to be here. I am so happy to be in this group because we have so much talents in the team. It’s great because we have worked so hard and i am happy the hardwork has paid off, ” the Orlando Pirates defender told the team media officer in an interview.

“Nwakali, Omeruo, Iheanacho, Awaziem, in fact almost everybody have really helped me to blend well into the team.

“I was so excited to have been giving an opportunity to represent Nigeria against Guinea-Bissau. I thank God and the coaches for giving me the chance.

“I remember that we had control of the game and move the ball to my teammates. I just played my part.

“I was also so happy we won 2-0 against Guinea-Bissau and it was my debut. I even slept so late because I was so happy.

“It was not difficult for me to adapt as a right back because going in the coach told me to do the basics by way of moving the ball in the right direction. So it was not difficult for me because I have played it once or thrice at training.

“If it happens i will be delighted to have more playing time with the team. However, I am really happy with the way the team is going. In fact, the team comes first.”

Recall that goals from Sadiq Umar and William Troost-Ekong was enough to give the three-time AFCON champions the maximum points and maintain their unbeaten record in the group stages.

I’m really impressed. Keep it up Ndah.

  • Tidy performance from him, the super eagles should keep up their momentum, because as things stands no nation can beat Nigeria in this afcon

  • The nff had balance rhor but paid it to his Nigerian account and needs to come to Nigeria to access it. But unfortunately his work permit has expired and he doesn’t have a visa. He is unhappy that the nff paid the money to his Nigerian account. He is paid but can’t access the Money lol. About eguaveon given rhor credit is good but why are some people saying he riding on another person success if rhor didn’t select the team eguaveon would have it’s not like he just scouted them before the tournament it’s still the players at afcon now that eguaveon would have called up. In my opinion he is just being humble cause rhor is not the one giving him his tactics that is all his doing

  • “I was so excited to have been giving an opportunity” ? Seriously CSN, you guys typed that? It should be given please and not giving. You people are professionals, shouldn’t be making those school boy errors

To scot players is not easy without bribe is not easy, that’s why I like white men, if you sabi play ball, they will pick you without asking you to pay 1000dollars , that’s why am worried about black coach.

      Meaning?

True talk my man. Eguaveon is good but he’ll destroy this team in the next windows with sentimental player selections if given the reigns as full time coach.

I’ll prefer he works in some capacity together with Peserio to coach SE.

Has he selected based on money for now, the answer is no.rohr even brought ighalo must HV given him Arab money.rhor only pick with sentiment n can’t change early in game

        • The answer is ‘Yes’ to me.. Not taking anything away from Nda, but Akpoguma should have been considered ahead of him.. between sodiq and olayinka, one would have given way for Desser.. Why is nwakakali playing ahead of the bredford boy?

OGA, our Nigeria coaches must eventually succumb to players agent politics and manipulations, or they partner with them directly ..

So why didn’t Rohr invite Dessers when he was in the form of his life against Cape Verde and Liberia? Instead he invited Ighalo. Why didn’t he invite Awoniyi despite being inform? Nigeria needs a coach with guts not someone that would nff’s muppet, Rohr obviously lacks that

      • John-I 2 years ago

        I wonder o

      • Dr Banks 2 years ago

Rohr cannot invite Dessers ahead of Onuachu at that point in time but in the event of Onuachu’s injury and Osimhen’s no show, surely Dessers would’ve been invited ahead of Onyekuru and Olayinka.

Ighalo was inited based on his AFCON experience and the fact that he is still playing and scoring well in his team currently. Cameroon’s Vincent Aboubakar who has scored 5 goals so far in 3 matches also plays in Saudi but less prolific than Ighalo in the same league, so experience matters. Ighalo would’ve made this our team very ruthless in this campaign if he was released for us

  • You guys are naive, because a coach is black doesn’t mean he would collect bribes. And that doesn’t mean because rhor is white that he didn’t collect bribes. Your impersonation of people is actually different from who they really are. And you guys shout for racial equality from what have noticed you guys have racial mentality. White doesn’t mean light and black doesn’t portrays darkness

    • They are unable to think aright ó. Very sad. Judging others based on the colour of their skill. Shameful

    • Dr Banks 2 years ago

Guys, people are judged by the antecedents and not just on racial grounds. Black races has the antecedents of Nepotism, corruption and favouritism that is entrenched in us. Eguavoen slotted in Ndah and Nwakali’s name despite not on the original list (just because he is their mentor) but dropped excellent players like Dessers, Akpoguma, Bassey and now our strikers are struggling.

We should pray that none of our team A defenders get injured before the end of the tournament otherwise we’ll see the real calamity that Ndah will offer when used against stronger teams like Cameroon, Cote D’voire, Morocco and Tunisia.

Meritocracy is the order of the day in Developed countries and that’s why they continue to grow in leaps and bounds. A tactically poor Rohr was still able to assemble a very strong team in all departments that we are benefiting from at the moment, if Eguavoen has been appointed like 6 months before this AFCON, we will be seeing strange names like Silas Nwankwo and the likes in our team by now.

That’s why I will not clamour for the retention of Eguavoen even if he wins AFCON but should retain his job as Technical Director with oversight duties and guidance to the new coach. Being an AFCON winner will earn him so much respect from the new coach who will listen to his valuable advice on moving the team forward

One thing I picked from his game is his control and passing, looks like a legit ball-playing defender. Still early days though, I’ll like to see his defensive abilities to make a valid assessment. Nice debut

Nwakali and ndah deserve their call ups and pls stop hating in them, nwakali is needed in that team at list he can always come in for aribo, and ndah is better than akpoguma, eguavon didnt have much Time to select boys but thank God he brought in nwakali, that boy is a natural eagle i will invite him even if he plays for enyimba, onyeka is There to replace ndidi if cases arises, he cannot play both of them in an attack minded 442 formation, only rohr can do that because he is always outdated and afraid of losing. Nigeria is blessed with players, imagine amoo lookman osihmen join this team, the Sky is our ceiling.

Even if Equavon wins the AFCON which I pray he should, I will still prefer he works as a Technical Director. While we have a foreign coach. Reasons that I don’t want Equavon to be totally involve in players invite and selection. That Nigerian virus must play out in him and this foundation Rohr lead which him Equavon is taking to another in this might be destroyed After After AFCON.
