Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has explained the reason behind his decision to snub Cyriel Dessers and Tolu Arokodare in his squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Libya.
Dessers and Arokodare were overlooked by Eguavoen despite their impressive form for Rangers and KRC Genk respectively.
Dessers has scored seven goals and registered one assist for Rangers this season.
Arokodare has netted six times for Genk in the Belgian Pro League.

Both were snubbed for out of form Kelechi Iheanacho.
Iheanacho has struggled to make meaningful impact since joining Spanish club Sevilla in the summer, failing to register a goal or an assist in five league outings.
“I decided to include Kelechi Iheanacho of Sevilla when it became clear Victor Osimhen would not be fit in time,” Eguavoen told Afrik Foot.
“I looked at both Cyriel Dessers and Tolu Arokodare, but opted for Kelechi this time because he is the more experienced striker.”

Experience striker without match fitness and no goal or assist to show for it. I pray it works for you Eguavon. Because if it falls you will receive negative comment and please don’t always say you are selecting the players based on current form.
YOU CAN IMAGINE, THIS IS WHAT WE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT LOCAL COACHES. THEY ARE ALL SENTIMENTAL. IN WORLD CUP PLAY -OFF OTHER TIME, HE SAID THAT GE INVITED OGENYI ONAZI JUST TO PACIFY SOME GROUP. NOW HE WAS CLAIMING EXPERIENCE FOR REASON IHEANACHO WAS INVITED. EXPERIENCE WITHOUT FORM.
** In 1994 USA W/CUP, why experience players like FULUDU, UGBADE, EKPO were dropped ahead of inexperience players like OLISEH, OKOCHA, C.NWANU by coach WESTERHOFF.
** In NIGHA 2000 AFCON, WHY BONFRERE JO didn’t drop AGHAHOWA(inexperienced player) for experience player J.AKPOBORIE.
** In Russia 2018 w/cup, why GERNOT ROHR dropped experience IDEYE for inexperience IHEANACHO.
LOCAL COACHES ARE TOO SENTIMENTAL, TRIBALISTIC AND BRIBE-TAKEN COACHES
When G. Rohr was the coach, i remember this same Ihenacho and musa maintained permanent shirts in the Super Eagles inspite of the fact that both were perenial bench warmers in their clubside, especially Ahmed Musa who was on the bench at liecester for almost the entire season. So this has nothing to do with local coaches vs foreign coaches. There is nothing wrong in criticing Eguavoen or any other Nigerian coach but we should not use this blanket name to always put down our coaches. Local coaches this Local coaches that, haba.
Is a big LIE
sharap dere! werey!
“I decided to include Kelechi Iheanacho of Sevilla when it became clear Victor Osimhen would not be fit in time”
Just as I said in the thread of the team list. Kelechi is now on the fringe and if Osimhen had been fit, he would have been dropped.
I also observed that Egusvoen is not a fan of Dessers or his playing style. I don’t even think either he or Arokodare are the next in the pecking order . Maybe 3rd. 4th, or 5th in the consideration for Number 9 in the absence of Osimhen.
Dessers used to be a top consideration but hasn’t impressed in the last chances he was given (aside that friendly against Mexixo). Even Paseiro didn’t rate him. And he’s ahead of Arokodare, who should first upgrade his playing league for someone wants to play 9 for the SE.
The Belgium league is actually not as bad as people might think. According to EUFA website, the league is ranked #8 in Europe ahead of some popular leagues.
You like to defend your people, never has known anyone so favourably disposed and protective to his ethnic group..
Well you will never catch me undermining or disrespecting other ethnic groups unprovoked, hence I expect others to treat my ethnic group with similar respect. I have always seen all ethnic groups in Nigeria as equal until I started visiting this site to witness total derogatory remarks about Yoruba players and their quality. I noticed that some people do not even like to hear any Yoruba name being associated with Nigerian football. Pathetic bunch, including yourself.
You’re full of animosity especially against the Igbos but why so?One could read through your comments a bitter bloke who has a strong resentment against other tribes especially the Igbos,I think you’re hurting yourself, try to find happiness by loving others regardless there ethnicity.
If you think people hate the Yoruba’s because some players from that region was criticised for their performances then you have a serious problem.
You should ask yourself these people you assume to be Igbos don’t they criticise Igbo players too?So how come you don’t come hard on them when they criticise players from their region?Because you’re sentimentally and unreasonably attached to a faction your tribe.
You do not see yourself first as a Nigerian that’s why you’re hurt when a Yoruba player or politician are criticised.
Traits of a bigoted person one-sidedness.
Lol…look at this austistic mutant thinking he has written something meaningful. You seem cerebrally-challenged and due to your lack of comprehension, you have resorted to going down the overflogged path of labeling people who see through your bigotry the same thing you suffer from. Typical reverse psychology and gaslighting. You need to do a self-reflection and learn to be a better person. For your information, I don’t only resent comments criticizing players performance. I am referring to blatant tribalism which has nothing to do with players performance.
He has resorted to abuses..All you do in this forum is moan about bad treatment or prejudice against your tribe grow up man!
An ultimate juvenile asking someone to grow up. You are really entertaining.
What a Sniper I’m looking for hiding place! Egungu where you dey someone is roasting your fellow nuisance.

For me the coach is too lazy we have strikers scoring goal week in week out u are inviting a player whom is out of form all it experience if u don’t invite the one inform how we they get experience na God fit help us for this country
Kel, I read that your post and felt you had your finger on the pulse. I think Eguavoen is playing it safe and electing to work with players familiar to him at the expense of others who might be doing better in club football.
Also, some of these invited players (indigenous and foreign) are those already accustomed to and accommodating of the NFF’s policy of “play now and be paid later (if ever)”.
Players like Umar Sadiq, Balogun, Aribo are also at home with this administrative anomaly and may make a return later. Personally, I don’t think Eguavoen is keen on Akpoguma, Dessers and Akpom. This is not a criticism of Eguavoen, afterall all managers select only players they are comfortable working with.
I also don’t think he is keen on Iwobi. Personally I think he prefers Joe Aribo but maybe he is still disappointed in Aribo’s disappointingly underwhelming displays against Ghana in Qatar WC qualifiers.
He clearly rates Iheanacho and will gladly create space for him if his form slightly deserves it.
A lot of fans should expect to be perpetually disappointed in Eguavoen’s squad selections. If these group (including those who didn’t kick the ball for 1 minute) defeat Libya, vast majority of them will be invited for November’s qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda (unless they lose form fatally).
Awoniyi was Eguavoen’s first choice center forward 2 years ago. Unless injured, I don’t see Eguavoen dropping him for Maja, Dessers or Akpom.
He (Eguavoen) is somewhat loyal to his players.
It has to be recalled that despite the furore that followed Okoye’s performance against Tunisia in the ill-fated Afcon second round encounter, Eguavoen called him back for the world cup qualifiers against Ghana – only that Okoye was to upset from social media vitriolic he received so he declined the invite.
So, with Eguavoen in charge, it will be unwise to expect a massive overhaul to the Super Eagles. Yes, you can expect the odd 2 – 3 fresh faces but nothing overly substantial.
Hence I try not to waste my time about players not invited.
** (indigenous born and foreign born) **
True @deo. You can tell Eguavoen is trying to play very safe and don’t want to take any gambles, especially given the precarious situation we find ourselves in the WCQ. He can’t afford to disappoint himself and Nigerians after that 2022 WCQ bust. He’s got so much to prove.
Gusau has already hauled more pressure on him by saying SE will definitely qualify for USA/Mexico/Canada 2026 and I don’t see NFF replacing Eguavoen if he gets at least 4 points against Libyan as ND does well in the CHAN qualifiers next month.
As you pointed out, any new additions under Eguavoen is going to be hard, aside one or 2 new wizkids on the block here and there. Maybe an Uche Chrisantus there or an Akor in a friendly. And if a new invite doesn’t impress on debut, well…
I do feel sad for Iwobi though. He looked isolated in the last game against Rwanda. Once a player doesn’t fit into Eguavoen’s philosophy, it’s au revoir, no matter how individually good they actually are. Only Rohr knew Iwobi’s true potentials and put it to the best use.
I think this is a detracted which overwhelms Eguavoen Super Eagles coaching career , that means Eguavoen choose his player on sentiment not about form in his club , this makes Eguavoen fails on many times ; if Eguavoen choose his players on current good form and merit I think again he will be great coach just like the passed coaches Amodu Shaibu and Stephen Kitche and just like also Siasia , he should summon Chuba Akpom and Cyriel Dessers,Gabriel Osho instead of unfit players like Keleche Iheancho and Taiwo Awoniyie, Tanimu…
Did you watch desser on Sunday night,if he likes let him score hundred goals, his style of play can’t fit for super eagles
abeg chimpmezie helep we told them o! yeye pipo! desser ko, desserts ni lmaaoo!
Lier. The most corrupt man on earth. How would you say you preferred an experienced player to an informed player who has been with the Eagles for a while? Would you play Nacho in upcoming games? Capital no. So, what are you talking about then?
So why are you lying then when it is clearly shown that Nacho will sit on the bench?
Are you telling us that Dessers is not a Nigerian like us?
First, you said you did not know Kolawole the last time, and now, you prefer an experienced player to inform the player.
Now, we are complaining that Nigeria is not moving forward, but how would Nigeria move forward this way?
You have given Oga Rohr followers a chance to muck we that believe our own can do the job kę.
So, you are feeling the heat from us the fans?
You know that Dessers is in a better place to replace Oshimen, but you denied Kolawole for the second time, and you think Kolawole and other informed players will be happy with you?
Shebi, do you want to rely on the experience of Ayoniyi, Nacho, Boniface and Chukwueze? Fingers crossed. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

I am not happy the way Dessers is treated. What do our coaches want in the prolific striker?I have watched him from his days in the Dutch league to Italian and Rangers and I can boldly say he is very good and experience. He is a natural finisher and hustles slot while attacking. His few appearance with the super Eagles have been great and could have improved better with consistency.I think his problem with us is lack of Godfather. Also he doesn’t look like someone who gives bribes He deserves a call with the absence of Osihmen

Desser’s name has been mentioned a lot by football fans, well,i’m not a fan simply because he has failed to cut it in a big league.
If you can’t shine against experience defenders in top European leagues but start to score moments after your move to a much weaker league against unversed defenders,i’m afraid won’t invite someone who only scores against unschooled defenders..
Meanwhile,Eguavoen may have fondness for the duo of Iheanacho and Awoniyi having coached them in recent past.He trust them such is the bias that led them to be part of his team.
Last we know he was banging in goals in the Dutch and Italian league before going to Rangers. Did you say he plays in a weaker league, then players from smaller leagues shouldn’t be invited either. Is the Belgian, MLS or even Turkish league better than the Scottish league. You have a player playing everyday compared to those warming the bench. So the criteria now is warm the bench for top leagues and be invited for national call
While I appreciate Dessers’ exploits in Europe, I don’t think he suits the Eagles. He has been given countless opportunities and hasn’t taken them. So I don’t fancy him in the Super Eagles.
Players like Victor Olatunji of Sparta Prague, Tolu Arokodare of Genk and George Ilenikhena of Monaco (ıf he could be convinced to play for us) should be closely monitored. I expect to see more of them before they are invited.
That said, a player like Chuba Akpom of AJAX should have definitely be invited, especially when the lethal Osimhen is missing. He has been in form for a long stretch; from the middle of last season, when he finally settled into the Ajax squad, till now, he has been in good form. There’s no reason why Akpom should been ignored. Even if Awoniyi and Iheanacho could be good on their day, currently, they aren’t sharp. It’s risky counting on only Victor Boniface. As good as he is in Leverkusen, we saw his performance in the last round of qualifiers. It wasn’t easy for him.
Our only hope is for the wingers cum midfielders; Lookman, Simon, Ejuke , Iwobi, DelE-Bashiru and prayerfully, Chukwueze; to find their scoring boots. We definitely going to need them now more than ever.
And it’s a shame none of the journalist questioned the gaffer, Eguavoen, about inviting a 3rd division defender and a goalkeeper plying his trade in Ethiopia when you have better quality in similar positions in far more prestigious leagues. What the hell does Tanimu offers that Akpoguna or Ehizibue don’t? They are all clamouring for Local based players but chose to pick a keeper from Ethiopia?! I know the Nigerian league is not it, but come on, Ehtiopia?! I smell someone acting like an agent and marketing two of his signees. Cause I don’t understand the rationality for inviting the duo of Tanimu and Obasogie, ıt simply makes no sense.
@Mr Hush
I agree with much of what you have written.
We are dependent on one of Lookman (who will be heavily marked by the Libyans), Simon, Chukwueze and Dele Bashiru striking. As much as I respect Boniface’s performances for Leverkusen…
Im still not sold on him for the Super Eagles…When matched up to the equal athleticism on the African stage…he seems not as potent…and to my eyes he seems overweight to me.
Anyway lets see how they go..hopefully this will be the breakout game for Boniface.
I am hoping the guys can overcome the inability to win competitive when Osimhen is unavailable
Sure Osimhen was available for Rwanda, but apart from that match I don’t think super eagles has been able to win a game without him some time.
@Philip Dessers struggled in the Italian league game after game especially in his final year he couldn’t shine hence his move to the Scottish league where suddenly he found his lost scoring boots.
Yes he was phenomenal in the Dutch league but was frustrating watching him in the Serie A and Nigerian national teams respectively, apparently, these are bigger stages with more well rounded defenders.
Just like @Mr Hush rightly said,he was given countless opportunities by different coaches Dessers flopped just like Onuachu he wasn’t a fit for us I’m afraid. His last involvement for Nigeria was under Finidi,he started both our friendly games a victory against bitter rivals Ghana and a lose to Mali,Dessers performance in both games was subpar and unsatisfactory.
Let’s focus on the untested Victor Olatunji’s,George Ilenikhena,Gift Orban and others showing promise in Europe and beyond and see what they can offer to our team rather than going back and forth with players who aren’t suited for the super eagles..
Sorry I don’t know which Dessers you are referring to. But Cyriel Dessers played only 1 season in the Serie A…and for who…CREMONESE. And for a club like that he still managed 7 goals (averaging a goal every 240 mins). Yes we all know Dessers is not Osimhen, but in a stingy league like the Serie A and for a club like Cremonese, 1 goal every 240 minutes is a huge return. Interpolating that figure over an entire season If he had played the whole season would have been up to 14 goals for a club like Cremonese.
And for the SE, Dessers has only played 6 matches where he started 4 (came on for 1 and 5 mins respectively I his substitute appearances) and has 2 goals. So I really don’t get it when people say he has had “Numerous chances and didn’t take them”
When I recall Osimhen had to wait till his 9th game in SE colours to score his first goal from open play and Boniface is still struggling after 7 games and the less said of Awoniyi the better, I think we are being unfair with Dessers.
I’m not saying he’s the best out there tho. But if it’s in terms of “taking his chances” in the SE….Dessers has done than better than all the CFs we have now with exception of Osimhen. I just think we should get that straight.
Dessers struggled in Italy before moving to Scotland.I saw some of his games in Italy,he wasn’t just good enough.
Dessers at his age shouldn’t expect to get chances upon chances like his much younger teammates.
His last games for the super eagles was so poor missing one on ones,in-fact his misses cost us the Mali game. And in international football you don’t get that many chances to impress unless you’re a young player still learning his ropes.
So it is Boniface and Awoniyi that bang in goals with half chances right…?
Ive just put my thoughts up there in numbers.
The numbers don’t lie.
Dessers was top scorer in the dutch league and 1st ever in European Conference League Competition. He is a proven CF.
I’ll rather pick a player scoring goals in a weak scottish league over an unfit player who grew a pot belly over the summer and still struggles with ball control 5 matches into his La liga career.
If iheanacho were to be fit and firing from all cylinders, it would have been a no brainer, but with him being unable to hit a decent shot on target yet, he should rather be allowed to use this 10 day international break to catch up on fitness. But knowing Iheanacho to be who he is, he still wouldn’t. The boy spent his entire Leicester career playing 2nd and 3rd fiddle to Vardy and then Daka.
Did yekini played in top leagues in Europe. What about Ike uche. What about aghahowa. These are top scorers for Nigeria in record.
Green hurt I disagree with you. We should reward inform players with invitation. The truth is that something is wrong somewhere. We can’t continue to shy away from this.
It’s the same problem with the general Nigerian community.
There are powers that be at the top. There’s this selfish interest from local coaches.
The excuses given by eguavon will only be acceptable to people who don’t want to carefully think about this.
Ihenacho did not feature the last time. He will not be given first team shirt. He is not in form.
Why can’t you allow him to rest and face his club career for now.
If we justify ihenacho invitation how do we justify tanimu again. ‘Son’ of a top politician.
Something is wrong.
One of arokodare or desseer or Maja should have been in this team to encourage them and others.
We have wasted the invitation of ogbu.
Osho will be wasted. Tourinaya is no longer there.
Yet we have a central defense that is aging. Too bad.
Desser does not deserve this. Agreed he has not really done very well in past matches but the same is with Boniface. Ademola also had issues at the beginning. This is unfair. The reason why we will not have a consistent performance and results.
Christian Ministries I love your description with Aghawonder and Yekini school us more Abeg.

Dr. Drey, I am afraid both you and Greenturf are right on this one depending on opposing perspectives you are coming approaching it.
From the perspective of RAW FACTS, you are bang on the money that Dessers hasn’t been too bad for Nigeria in relation to others based on the minutes he has clocked in Super Eagles colours. But, from the perspective of UNPROCESSED, UNFILTERED FEELINGS, the “feel” is that Dessers hasn’t done enough in all-round play to justify going-to-town to request his future invitations to the Super Eagles.
You see, as much as I hate to admit it, football is both about visceral and rational experiences.
In Scotland at the moment, the same Dessers is been put through the mill. He is sadly facing similar rough justice from Rangers fans who have now descended to booing him in matches and abusing him on social media because they don’t particularly fancy his game.
And you have to ask yourself, why have Rangers turned against Dessers this badly?
Left to you Dr Drey, last season, Dessers scored 13 goals in 30 league games for Rangers, nigh-on 50% goals-to-games conversation rate which mirrors his output this season thus far of 3 goals in 5 games. The FACTS are good but the Rangers’ fans are not FEELING Desser’s style and system as a centre forward.
The same is happening in the Super Eagles: a growing body of Super Eagles fans are just not FEELING Dessers centre forward presentation (me included to be honest).
The rational me agree with you Dr Drey but the visceral me 100% agrees with Greenturf. For me, I will be preferring handing call ups to Josh Maja or Chuba Akpom to see what they can offer rather than flogging the tired horse of how Dessers can fit into the Super Eagles.
Eguavoe and complete sports should be updating us about the players in the camp and no why he didn’t invited this or that.
Kel, mark my words: if Kelechi Nwakali starts to burn rubber in game-time for his club in England, there will be a far greater chance of seeing him return to the Super Eagles ahead of all those fabulously exciting slash-and-burn, balls-to-the-wall avant-garde midfielders (foreign and indigenous born) that fans are touting up and down. It will not matter in the slightest that he plays in division 10!
There is a dichotomy to Eguavoen.
He doesn’t often look beyond his core base of players. But when he does, he has no qualms throwing these players into the line of fire in high octane, high profile games.
The argument that he doesn’t like foreign born players is weak, untenable and can never be substantiated. This is a coach that relegated indigenous born Uzoho and Akpeyi on the bench in favor of foreign born Okoye in the Afcon 2 years ago. He also recalled the same Okoye to man the post against Ghana despite widespread fan condemnations following the Tunisia debacle. In his games in 2022 Afcon and Qatar WC qualifiers, 40,50 to 60% of his match day squads comprised foreign born players.
This was the coach who was devil-may-care and reckless enough to hand Ademola Lookman (ahead of Moses Simon) and Calvin Bassey (ahead of Zaidu Sanusi) their international debuts against Ghana in the most important game of his managerial career to that point in win or burst WC qualifiers.
So, Eguavoen does accommodate fresh legs to his squad and these can be foreign or indigenous born. But the pool he draws these fresh legs from is very narrow and the fresh legs are few but once he invites them, he is likely to trust them enough to play them in high-wire games. What I can draw from that is that, unless he trusts the bills-of-materials that the players bring to his philosophy and fold, he will NEVER INVITE THE PLAYER NO MATTER WHAT FANS SAY OR HOW FANTASTICALLY WELL THE PLAYER IS PERFORMING IN CLUB FOOTBALL.
He will go back to his prepared response: “I have never seen him play!!”. I wonder where he saw Tanimu and that Ethiopian goalkeeper player play football leading to their invites! HAHAHA! Or indeed how many goals he has seen Taiwo Awoniyi score this season to be selected ahead of Maja, Dessers and Akpom who are bulging back of nets consistently! hahaha.
Awoniyi and Tanimu have bought into his coaching philosophy and methods, so less time, mental preparedness and efforts are required to orientate and indoctrinate them. These 2 are likely happy to pay their own return flight tickets, appear on a play and pay later basis and are unlikely to grumble, complain or kick a fuss if they are rooted to the bench for the entire 2 games and would even buy Eguavoen duty-free perfumes and chocolates for the privilege. On top of all that he is confident of getting good points with these players in conjunction with the other invited ones!
So, will you blame Eguavoen for going for the easier, more expedient option no matter which Super Eagles fan’s Ox is gored Lol!
Eguavoen, like most of our local coaches, are technically and tactically myopic and bereft of initiative. Stubbornly so.
In as much as winning today matters, you also plan for tomorrow. You shape your team not just for today. International football gives you the room to widen your search. Which helps you keep you team sustainably fresh and competitive. And for a country like Nigeria, we are blessed to have a vast pool to pick from. But Eguavoen chose to do otherwise. His selection process is flawed, bias and alienating and has always been a disservice to him. That’s why he starts well but burns out easily.
Would he learn? That remains to be seen. But what precedence has shown me about Nigerian coaches, is that they never do. Rather they double down on their failed approach and speed on. I would be stunned if Eguavoen did otherwise.
@deo
You gave me a hearty laugh this morning…enjoyed this comment
Particularly the line
“These 2 are likely happy to pay their own return flight tickets, appear on a play and pay later basis and are unlikely to grumble, complain or kick a fuss if they are rooted to the bench for the entire 2 games and would even buy Eguavoen duty-free perfumes and chocolates for the privilege”
Keep the comments going…
Hahahaha…..You cracked me up from A-Z.
My question is if we “lay men” can predict Eguavoen and all his moves on his table soccer board with this sort of bull’s eye accuracy, imagine what trained coaches can do.
Oh I forgot….2 B-coaches (Tunisia and Ghana) with the worst squads their countries have put together in half a century already succeeded with that.
If Libya’s coach cannot snatch at least 2 points from these double header, then I’ll suggest he quits coaching and try his hands on something else.
Egu beat your so called best coach Rhor 3 goals to nothing and you’re here saying nonsense, u know you want egu to fail but you’re not God,he will keep on shaming you, you want him to invite desser so that Nigeria will not win but thank God Ejuke is there to entaintain we the fans
I would have dignified you with a better reply if all you’ve written here made sense.
Egu catching Rohr unawares with Peserio’s 343 and defeating him by 3 goals has suddenly raised Egu’s profile to be the best iN Africa right….LMAOooo. Just the was the only 1 match of Dessers you watched renders him a useless striker in your blurry sight…..LMAOooo
Why didn’t your Egu also beat Rwanda by 3 goals after Torsten Frings found him out…LMAOOoo.
Please tell your Guadiola to also beat Libya by 3 goals home and away ehn.
I agreed wit yuh chimpmezie but why do that ejuke looks so funny na? kai lol
the guy nor try at all, hin just be like pesin wey no get sense, with hin basket hair lmaoo
Deo, your explanation and analysis is either here or there. There’s nothing that should justify the invitation of awoniyi, ihenacho and tanimu.
There’s no English you can use to justify this. What makes him believe arokodare will not do very well on his debut.
What about Osho. Why tanimu? Finidi did that. He is also doing the same. This shows there’s a top power that’s at work here.
For goodness sake why can’t you let awoniyi concentrate on his club career for now.
This is pure nonesense. How do we allow competition in the team or encourage players to do well abroad or even at home.
You are talking about English yet you are here dismantling the same English, back in the day, what you wrote will be met by a resounding Tiauuun! pmsl – anyway sir, how you butchered that English saying is extremely interesting – the saying itself is “neither here nor there” so how you managed to turn it into a caricature by using it as either here or there is quite surprising lmaaoo.
Awoniyi and Tanimu are very welcome and all you Awoniyi bashers will soon eat your words!
Iheanacho is the only waste of call up among the 3 of them
People calling for Dessers to be called up are clowns pmsl, they are enemies of 9ja in disguise – wolves in sheep’s clothing, thank God that Eguavoen does not have to listen to such wereys lmaaoo
whish desserts is bluging back of nets?? yuh sure say nah de same dessert wey dey for rangers? pmsl! yuh nigreain pipo self, una don commot outside again, pesin nor go heard word again, desserts ko, sahara ni lmaaoo.
‘If Libya’s coach cannot snatch at least 2 points from these double headers, then I’ll suggest he quits coaching and try his hands on something else.’
@ Dr Drey
As much as I know this could be reality, I am looking forward to the players (whoever plays) to do the needful and get us the maximum points in spite of Eguavoen. Because I don’t trust Eguavoen at all.
I just pray the stupid stalling game the NFF is playing, by not appointing a quality coach, doesn’t finally cut off the jugular of our world cup qualifier.
It is quite glaring the FA is holding on to EGUAVOEN hoping his early success against these minnows would make us forget about hiring a quality coach.
May God help us
Should Eguavoen fail to qualify a second time for the world cup Nigerians will come so hard on him.If i were Cerezo i will go back working as a TD because excuses of taking up the challenge after his predecessors have fumbled won’t be accepted.
Whoever accept the job as it is should be ready to be judged on full scale. However, any coach that will redeem our hope of qualifying for the world cup will be an instant hero..
Though i still believe notwithstanding,Eguavoen will get the better of Libya. He has a core of our best players besides the quality will be too much for Libya to cope with.
I forsee 6 points Nigeria after the two round of games.
I am hoping and fervently praying the Libyan coach has not watched or read Egu’s last pressser where he blurted out to the hearing of the entire world that 3-days camping is not enough to change things, similar to what he said after being booted out of 2021 AFCON by a B-grade coach that he cannot change tactics in the middle of a tournament.
Otherwise, the draw he is targeting is very very achievable home and away.
Going by Mr TD’s 1-dimesional approach to coaching, Mr Al-Hadiri does not need to be a UEFA pro licence holder to know that clipping the wings and clogging the middle with a 3-6-1 or a 4-5-1 will effectively neutralize Eguavoen on the wings where he depends on the individual brilliance of our wing forwards [under the guise of allowing them to express themselves] and dominate our often lean midfield which is too impotent to attack through the centre, too visionless to thread the eye of a needle with defense splitting passes nor take accurate shots on target from range.
And with an all action CF like Osihmen injured the crop of CF in the SE camp are the ones who need chances presented to them on a platter of Gold and all the time in the world to bury them.
Dessers may have another chance.
