AFCON 2025Q: We’ll Exploit Super Eagles Weak Defence — Rohr

Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr has said his team will exploit the Super Eagles weak defence in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounter.

The two neighbours will clash in a matchday five encounter at the Felix Houphet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Thursday.

The Super Eagles thrashed the Cheetahs 3-0 on matchday one in Uyo.

Rohr has however revealed his plan to stop the three time African champions.

“In our list of 25 players for the two decisive matches against Nigeria and Libya, we have the return of two players that we have followed and who have played very well recently,” he told Mega Sports.

“It is Serge Obassa in the list of three goalkeepers with Alagbé and Dandjinou.

“And then we also have the return of Lenny Piringuel who, with his new club, Rouen, is starting to find his mark, his liveliness, interests us a lot. Especially against a Nigerian team that could have small problems in defence, we hope.”

    Our defence is good now.

No @Samuel, our Defence is still our weakest link making a lot of avoidable blunders and giving the goalkeeper, Nwabali, a lot of extra work to do.

Remember, coach Rohr know this very well. In the World cup qualifier match day 4 against Benin played in Ivory coast, Benin beat Nigeria 2-1 because of “School boy error” by our defence- major culprit been Calvin Bassey, who essentially gifted the Benin striker the equalising goal with a very unnecessary and poor “Back pass” to make it 1-1 after Raphael Onyedika had put Nigeria ahead. Even the Benin winning goal was gifted to them by the very poor defence SE paraded that day, without Troost Ekong.

      • Nigeria was in really bad shape going into that match. Our backbone 11 were practically missing – Simon, Ekong, Osimhen, Lookman.

Plus the team strangely adopted a gung-ho, mass attack tactic with galing holes to exploit everywhere at the back. Very painful throwing away 5 points to SA and Benin. But I believe the shape of the group will drastically change come March.

With a fully fit team on Thursdays, Munie and co will see the real Super Eagles, not the rag tag one they played back then in WCQ. The last Afcon Q was just a taste of what’s to come.

And after the match you’ll hear Moses Simon is unplayable, super eagles have the best attack in the world and I built the team.

Yeah, as you did the last we met.

The old man is dreaming yet again. Didn’t Nigeria take him to the slaughterhouse at Uyu the last time we met? Was it not ‘Finito’ who managed our team then, during the time he is now referring to. Old man, you are in trouble ooo.

Such is life; is it, not Edoman that has been praising Oga Rohr for the past five or six of Oga Rohr ke?

Our own have shown you that they are better than Oga Rohr and his fellow foreign coaches ba?

It is well. I still can’t believe this lol. Ire ooo. God bless Nigeria!!!

Omoja, iro lo pa. O gbe gba gi.
Which your own has shown that they are better than foreign coaches? Your own that is making fear fear selection because he has nothing to contribute tactically? Your own that is 100% reliant on the ability and experience of players, since their is no tactical input?
