Twenty players have arrived at the Super Eagles’ camp in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The Super Eagles opened camp on Monday at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene, with head coach Éric Chelle, his assistants and other members of the backroom staff among the first to arrive.
Captain Wilfred Ndidi, winger Samuel Chukwueze and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are also expected to join the squad later in the day.
The team is scheduled to hold its first training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium , Uyo on Monday evening.
The first 15 minutes of the session will be open to the media and members of the public.
Nigeria will host the Barea of Madagascar on Friday before travelling to Bissau to face the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau next Tuesday.
The Super Eagles will be hoping to begin their qualifying campaign on a positive note as they aim to secure a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.

No sign Chelle wants to rejig that midfield. Its the SE weakness. Pls pls we need to see that midfield that defeated Zimbabwe without conceding. …Im tired of this Ndidi and Iwobi combo that hasnt wont us anything in a decade.
Most of them are injured..Besides we don’t do follow up on our players,especially those that plays otside the top 7 leagues of Europe to know their fitness levels…

We don’t need distractions in our national team.
One lesson that i learnt from the performance of cape Verde during the last world cup is that performance of a national team is predicted on commitment of players.
You dont need stars a times to put up good performance in international matches.
What you need in the national team is a group of players that are dedicated, committed and are disciplined.
The the level of commitment on the part of erling haaland when he is playing for Norway and lamine yamal when he is playing for Spain has been of the key factors why these national teams have won most of their matches.
If players from Manchester city and Barcelona can show this level of commitment when they are playing for their national team players like okoye and others should change their attitude when they recieved Invitation to play for super eagles.
But Patrick, Haaland, Yamal and others are not being owed match bonuses, and they are well taken care of.
Yes, our players need to show more commitment, but that will come if we take better care of them, which NFF is not doing!
We are owing players, we are not giving them standard care, yet we expect commitment? Some of us even want them to go and die on the pitch.
That’s why I have so much respect for those that always show up early when invited, like Iwobi, Ndidi, Ajayi, Bassey, and several others. These guys are really trying for us.
If they were taken care of better, they would give us much more.
