African Games 2023: Falconets Players Are Strong, Technically Good –Ghana Coach

Head Coach of Ghana’s U-20 women’s team, Black Princesses, Yussif Basigi, has labeled Nigeria’s Falconets players as a strong and technically good team.

Basigi was speaking ahead of today’s (Thursday) final of the women’s football event of the African Games.

The Falconets would be hoping to defend their African Games title as they face rivals Ghana.

Christopher Danjuma-led team have recorded wins in all three games played at the games and are yet to concede a goal.

“We are poised to play the final against Nigeria because each time both countries meet, it does not matter how good your team is because of the rivalry. We are prepared for them as they are for us as well,” Basigi said in his presser on Wednesday.

“We vary our games and with the strength of the Nigerians, I think Uganda and Senegal are equally strong but we overcame them.

“Nigeria is strong and technically good and we have what it takes to play against them. Playing against Nigeria is not new as I have played against the Super Falcons during my time as Black Queens head coach.”

On tactical ploy for the game, Basigi stated that he and his coaching crew
have a tactical ploy.

He said they look at each game to know who can play so there is the possibility of changes in the team that plays the Falconets in the final.

Also on facing a free scoring Nigerian side:”Nigeria has scored many goals but it depends on who you’re playing against. It happened in the WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup when they didn’t concede so the final will determine.”

It’s so important we finish top in this duel. Our male team was eliminated so early,Nigeria’s hope of finally securing an AAG gold medal vanished right away,so it’s impracticable or unfeasible winning a medal from the male category after an ill-fated adventure in Accra.
Our hope of a gold medal is with the falconets,i hope we are not let down after 90 mins against bitter rivals Ghana. We’re depending on you please use this opportunity to avenge your lose in the WAFU B Final.

They lost. It appears Nigeria lacks serious coaching. We need a coach that is technically and tactically sound. Some of the girls just lack football sense. But a sound coach would have made up for that deficiency.

      • I’m sure you guys have your revenge now? Soso mouth mouth. You guys always refuse to learn. Always talkinh about revenge forgetting that that mindset doesn’t win a football match. Congratulations to the Black Princesses. Let’s do a double over them…they are our daily bread…lol
