Agar Irked By Selectors’ Silence

Ashton Agar has joined the growing criticism of Australia’s selectors after being left out of the one-day side to face India.

The 25-year-old, who has played four Tests and nine ODIs for the Baggy Greens, has become the latest player jettisoned from the squad to vent his feelings about what is happening with selection.

Matthew Wade and Nathan Coulter-Nile have recently had a go at the selectors for their lack of communication and Agar has now had his say, suggesting that the powers-that-be have failed to inform him why he has not been included after he was part of Australia’s past two white-ball squads.

“I guess I mustn’t have run the drinks well enough last time,” he said. I got told pretty much to just keep trying to get better. It has been pretty vague, to be honest.

“Pretty much it was just that Nathan Lyon is bowling really well and Zamps (Adam Zampa) gives us a leg-spinning option. I guess that probably had nothing to do with me as such.”
