Aiyegbeni: Ghana Don’t Have Strikers, Can’t Beat Super Eagles To World Cup Ticket

Former Super Eagles forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni has joked about Ghana’s lack of fire power upfront, reports Complete sports.com.

The Black Stars will take on the Super Eagles in a two-legged qualifiers later this month.

The Ghanaians will be without their most deadly and popular striker Andre Dede Ayew, who is suspended for the game.

“We (Nigeria) have about nine strikers. Ghana don’t have strikers, so we can even spare them some,” he told Joy FM of Ghana.

Aiyegbeni further took a jibe at Ghana by saying that while non-qualification to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be a massive disaster for Nigeria, it will not be so for Ghana.

“Just imagine Nigeria not qualifying for the World Cup?,” he asked.

“Ghana not qualifying for the World Cup is not a big deal.”

Ghana will host the Super Eagles at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on March 25, while the reverse fixture will take place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium,Abuja four days later.

Hahahahaha nice one, these Ghanians are very boastful and ignorant, this interview serves them right

    • Yaw opare 2 years ago

Very stupid talk. Who has performed better in the world cup? Was he not in the Nigeria team in 2008 when you were beaten by Ghana with a man down? Was he not a top striker then? What did he do in that game? I was expecting him to tell all these loud mouth Nigerians what you get from a ghana team. Even the weakest Ghanaian team will give Nigeria trouble any day. The match is few days away, let’s all wait

      • Michel 2 years ago

This may h has shown that all ghanians are the same, they are all living in the past.a mat h that was played over 13 years ago is what u still talk about,do u know how many times Egypt has beaten Ghana, yet u all are still circled on one 6-1 win against Egypt and a 2-1 win against Nigeria in 2008.lmao.we beat Cameroon 4-0 in big, beat Algeria,Mali,Ghana, Ivory coast, Senegal,we have beating every country in Africa yet u can’t hear any Nigerian talking abt the match because we live in present times, you guys don’t have a team.ghanain football is dead and buried

Take it easy, man. He’s only kidding. I watched the interview, it was fun, fun, and fun between him and those two Ghanaian guys in the studio. Nothing personal. They were just exchanging banters. You are not more Ghanaian than they are. Chill man. It’s just a game. Even if Ghana qualified, I will fully support them. I was madly rooting for them against Uruguay. And cried when Asamoah Gyan lost that penalty. This is not war. The game is meant to be enjoyed and not to be endured. I just want to have fun on the 25th. Nothing more.

Aiyegbeni and other boastful patriots please guys calm down, Ghana is not Lesotho, they’ve the players to beat us home and away, we should approach the game with caution and ready to die attitude, our fake generalissimo just played himself out.pls confidence is silence insecurities are laud.

Please don’t underrate Ghana, Ghana is a team has experience in World footbalk inspite of thier exiting early from last Afcon. in Cameroon and also thier humlation by Comoros; with thier shaky defence and bad strikers who lost many chances to score goals, but we must respect them becuase they form a hard rival against Super Eagles as is called West Africa derby.Nigeria must take care and take thier caution from Ghana antics and using Juju against SE when they meet them; using dirty conducts like using charms on the team and his players.Technical crew and adiminstrive crew must keep the players far from press meeting, close training sessions from Ghanian spectators, they must not declare any talks to the press gathering, except official press conference for only technical crew.

    “Ghana don’t no strikers “ – Aiyegbeni.

They do actually. They have drafted in the likes of Atheltic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams into the squad at the last minute. This is the reason they are not publishing the list now to surprise Nigeria.
Ghana sees the game a a war because they always see beating Nigeria as a way of validating themselves. You can compare this to when Scotland plays England. Scotland always like to get one over England at al cost. Ghana and likes of Scotland are suffering from small nation syndrome seeing playing against a much bigger nation as a do or die affair

    • Golden Child 2 years ago

Inaki Williams has not agreed to play for them but even if he did, they have inaki, we have osimhen. Osimhen is mentioned in the same breadth as halaand so no cause for alarm. Eagle’s only need to remain calm, confident and grounded. Ghana is going down.

    • Yaw opare 2 years ago

      Did you say validating ourselves?
You call a team which beat you playing almost the entire second half with 10 men small? A team which gave you one of your heaviest defeats 7-0, in your football history small? A team which humiliated you 4-1 in front of the international press small?
So a team with 25wins, 19 draws out of 56 games against you is small? And for your information England have beaten Scotland 48 times against Scotland’s 41. Same cannot be said with ghana and Nigeria so your small nation analogy doesn’t hold here. I think Nigerians should be ashamed for losing more games against ghana and still calling them small. If any nation is small between the two, it should be Nigeria and history will repeat itself on friday and 29th

      • Rotexy 2 years ago

Football is a game and truly it’s unpredictable. But Ghana in the true sense of it all is small compared to Nigeria. Looking at it socially, economically, and politically, Ghana is tiny; imagine that your entire GDP as a country is less than half of a state (Lagos) in Nigeria. If we close the Border again you will start to shout! Please recognize those that are bigger than you and give them their due respect.

        • Yaw opare 2 years ago

My brother, pls don’t lose focus, keep your eyes on the ball! Ghana can never be small when we talk about football. We can have the economics debate another day but since you decided to hit below the belt, let me give you a little dose. Oga what did you do with your so called big gdp? Do you have light where you live? And do you now have fuel to buy? All the people in your country are running to buy properties in ghana, including even your criminals. You see, so let’s focus on the football debate and cut out all those unnecessary comparisons because with all the resources at your disposal, you have nothing to show for it. Very disgraceful.

          • Sammy 2 years ago

Just face the truth and stop glossing over it. Nigeria takes a game against Ghana as just playing any other country. On the hand Ghana takes it as a do or die affair, they will rather lose to any other country but Nigeria

  • Father 2 years ago

The numerous strikers mean nothing. The Black Stars strong midfielders will cut supply to the Super Eagles strikers and it will be game over.

    • Golden Child 2 years ago

So you think your midfield is the strongest…lol. The same midfield that could not stop Comoros from scoring…ROTFL.

You will learn on the 25th. Even without Ndidi, you will learn!

      • Yaw opare 2 years ago

Boss you lost against Central Africa Republic at home! So stop talking as if you don’t know football can humble you sometimes. We are waiting for you in kumasi. Pls talk to the Egyptians and you will understand what is awaiting you.

        • Golden Child 2 years ago

My brother , good point.Lol..Analysing your comment, most Ghana fans always refer to the past. The game against Egypt was 6-1 many year ago (12 years ago) but notice how Ghana fans never remember recent home games like the one against South Africa.

What would be hilarious is if after holding on to the list this long, they still get pummelled at home. That will be funny.

          • Yaw opare 2 years ago

I’m happy you said “if”. Honestly everybody is allowed to say “if”. It means you are not sure it will happen. If you think any team can pummel ghana at home then you don’t know your soccer. Not even Brazil can “pummel” ghana at home.

  • Jesus is lord 2 years ago

If only Ghana can use juju for Brazil, Argentina, France and win that is when they can overcome super eagles. Why have they not use juju to win the world cup, if it is Brazil they are playing in Kumasi, they won’t be discussion on juju. Please don’t worry about their juju, we come in the name of the lord and with full determination to overcome. May God help super eagles for a clear victory and easy qualification for the world cup in Qatar in Jesus name
