FC Zurich’s Nigerian winger, Tosin Aiyegun, is celebrating a memorable 22nd birthday today (Friday) after scoring a brace for the club in a Raiffeisen Super League game on Thursday, making it seven goals in all competitions this season, Completesports.com reports.
FC Zurich thumped home side FC St. Gallen 4-0 at the Kybunpark on Thursday, with the Nigerian netting a brace in the 64th and 90th minutes.
St. Gallen had conceded an own goal through Vincent Rufli to gift Zurich a first half lead in the 31st before Aiyegun’s double further unsettled them at home. Benjamin Kololli completed the routing with his 86th minute goal.
Aiyegun who joined the Swiss club from Latvian top flight side Ventspils in September 2019 has proven to be a great acquisition for the Ludovic Magnin’s side with seven goals in 17 Raiffeisen Super League games so far. He has played 18 matches in all competitions for the club since his arrival, the other being a Swiss Cup game.
FC Zurich on Friday celebrated their talented Nigerian player glowingly on their official website and Social Media platforms.
“The Nigerian completed most of his football training in his home country at Real Sapphire FC before moving to the Virsliga at Ventspils at the age of 18,” FC Zurich wrote on their website.
“At the beginning of September 2019, the offensive player, who can be used in both left and right midfield and in the attack, joined the city club [FC Zurich. Tosin has played 18 competitive games for FCZ so far, scoring seven goals and two assists. Tosin scored the last two goals in yesterday’s away win against FC St.Gallen 1879.
