Ajax Boss Ten Hag Taking English Lessons Amid Links To Man United Coaching Job

Ajax handler Erik ten Hag is taking English lessons as he prepares for talks with Manchester United in respect of becoming the new manager at the club.

According to Sportsmail Ten Hag is studying English in a bid to ensure he has a fluent grasp of the language ahead of a possible move to the Premier League this summer.

Ajax are understood to be aware of Ten Hag’s intention to leave the club at the end of the season following recent internal talks.

The Dutchman is said to have his heart set on a move to United at the end of the season – but the fact he is committed to fluently learning English will leave him in good stead if any other jobs come up.

Ten Hag, who would bring coach Mitchel van der Gaag with him to England, is among the top contenders to replace Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford alongside Mauricio Pochettino next season.

Current Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, formerly of Everton and Chelsea, has also been mentioned in connection with the role.

Last summer Ten Hag was a contender to become new Tottenham head coach, however well-placed sources claim that the language barrier was an issue during talks.

United look certain to at the very least discuss the role with Ten Hag in the coming weeks and the fact he is brushing up on his English will aid his hopes of securing the job.

  • Erik ten Hag is good coach but he needs young boys 18-23 to handle. Thesr old guys in Man United will not catch up quick and that’s how trouble will come. Ronaldo. Matic. Poba. Maguire. De Gea. Fredrick. Even Fred. The ideal person should be Carlo Ancelotti if Real Madrid will allow him to leave. He won’t even be interested knowing the too know attitude of the club. To much interference. Ex players feel they own the club and so criticize 8n their studio. I think Erik ten Hag will go the same way.
