Ajayi Reflects On Winning Goal Vs Peterborough

Nigeria defender Semi Ajayi says Saturday night’s last minute winner against Peterborough perfectly epitomises why he loves playing football so much.

The centre -back netted the decisive goal with the last kick of the game to hand the Baggies all three points at the Weston Homes Stadium.

It was Valérien Ismaël’s side fourth consecutive Sky Bet Championship victory.

“I just had a feeling that Matty would beat his man and get a cross in, so I made sure I got myself into a position where I might be able to score and luckily enough the ball came straight to me,” Ajayi told the club’s website.

“It was just pure adrenaline when I scored and ran off celebrating.

“It really is the stuff you dream of. It’s why we play football, for moments like that.

“I’m so happy to have scored the winner in the last minute and I’m so happy for the team because we’ve managed to secure another victory.

“It was a well-earned three points.

“We weren’t at our best at Peterborough but I’m so proud of the boys for the way they dug in and got the win.

“We fought right until the end and our hard work paid off.

“We’ve got to keep this going now when we come back from the break.”
