Ajayi Set To Join West Brom From Rotherham United

Sky Bet Championship club West Bromwich Albion have reportedly agreed a £1.3m deal for Rotherham United defender Semi Ajayi, reports Completesports.com.

Ajayi, 25, was relegated with Rotherham United last season but he had impressed enough to earn the supporters’ player of the year award.

The tall centre-back can also play in midfield and will be a good addition to the West Brom squad who will be looking to secure promotion to the English Premier League next season.

Albion are also close to finalising terms with striker Kenneth Zohore from Cardiff City and want to add a right-back.

Ajayi scored 12 goals in 98 league appearances for Rotherham United.

He was called up by Nigeria as part of the 25- man provisional squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt but was dropped from the final list.

The former Cardiff City player has earned six caps with Nigeria but is yet to register a goal.

Good one Ajayi, though would have preferred you moved to Italy. That’s where defenders are developed to be world class, for Italian football is defence oriented spiced with fantastic tactical awareness.

Very true @ Ubah. Semi is young n has great future ahead of him. Italian football brings d best out of defenders. Someone like Balogun has all d ingredients to be one of best defenders in d world. England is not helping to unearth that real quality he has simply because in England the idea, is defenders have be more brawn than brain but in Italy defenders must have to be more brain than brawn. Is it any surprise how Ola Aina n Ekong have suddenly being transformed into very fantastic defenders/ football players. Or what about Senegal’s Koulibali.
