The Management, players, and the entire staff of Akwa United Football Club deeply sympathize with Wikki Tourists Football Club over the fire incident which engulfed their team bus on Thursday 18 February on their way to Uyo for NPFL Matchday 11 game against Dakkada FC.
Tragic as the case maybe, we in Akwa United feel so relieved that no life was lost. No amount of money, valuables or possession can compare to the loss of a human life; hence our thanks to the Almighty God for this.

This incident once more raises the need to put a machinery in place to guarantee the comfort and safety of football teams as they Criss cross this country to meet up their match schedules, week in, week out.
While praying against the re-occurrence of similar incidents, our prayers and thoughts are with the Management, Staff and Players of Wikki Tourists FC as they grapple with the trauma of the incident with a view of getting back into the business of the league, in a sound mind.
