Al Nassr Terminate Aboubakar’s Contract Following Ronaldo’s Arrival

Cristiano Ronaldo will be given the green light to make his Al-Nassr debut after the Saudi club terminated the contract of Indomitable Lions of Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar, Daily Mail reports.

Aboubakar will leave Al Nassr to make way for Ronaldo as Saudi league rules state that clubs can only register up to eight foreign players per squad.

The Saudi Arabia giants were aware that by adding Ronaldo to their squad, they would have to ship one of their stars out.

Daily Mail quoting reports in France, Aboubakar mutually agreed to terminate his contract and will be compensated by the club.

He is now a free agent and can choose his next destination with reports suggesting Manchester United have shown an interest in bringing him to Old Trafford this month.

His exit means Ronaldo can officially be registered to play for Al-Nassr but is unlikely to make his much-anticipated debut until January 22.

The 37-year-old must complete a two-match suspension after knocking a mobile phone out of a 14-year-old’s hands after Manchester United’s defeat at Everton in 2021.

He completed the first of match of his ban during Friday’s 2-0 win over Al-Ta’ee and will sit out his side’s derby clash at Al-Shabab on January 14.

This will free up the Portuguese star to make his bow in the home clash with Ettifaq in two weeks’ time.

Both Aboubakar and Ronaldo featured for Cameroon and Portugal respectively at last year’s World Cup in Qatar.

While Aboubakar crashed out in the group stage with Cameroon, Ronaldo’s Portugal lost 1-0 to Morocco in the quarter-finals.
