Albrighton Eyes Top-Six Points

Marc Albrighton insists Leicester City are looking to take points from the top clubs away from home this season and will not arrive just to make up the numbers. The so-called ‘big-six’ clubs have dominated English football in recent seasons, making the Foxes’ 2015-2016 Premier League title success all the more amazing.

Since then the East Midlanders have been back down among the also-rans, with a number of managerial changes since Claudio Ranieri’s heroics.

Brendan Rodgers now seems upbeat about leading the King Power outfit back among the elite and has stated his aim is to break into the coveted top six, while also enjoying a decent cup run.

Things have started well, with two wins and a couple of draws seeing Leicester third in the fledgling table, with an exciting squad ready to take on all-comers.

Next up after the international break is a trip to Old Trafford on Saturday to face Manchester United, while Tottenham will come calling seven days later.

Albrighton is already relishing the upcoming challenge at the Theatre of Dreams and has made it clear he and his team-mates will go there with one thing on their mind. “We need to go to places like Old Trafford to win, not going there being overawed by it all,” he told LCFC.com. “We’re going there for three points and that’s it.”

While picking up points at the league’s most intimidating clubs is vital to their top-four hopes, Albrighton also feels they must not fluff their lines against the lesser lights. “The big games against Manchester United away mean nothing if you’re not picking up three points against other teams at home, like we did against Bournemouth,” he added.

“They’re always difficult, but you’ve got to win those games and that’s where you pick up your points.”
Following those two encounters, games come thick and fast as Rodgers takes his men to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town in the EFL Cup on September 24 before Newcastle United arrive at King Power five days later.
