Winners have emerged in the sixth edition of the FAAN Tennis Club, Ikeja Annual Age Grade Tennis Tournament.
The sixth edition of the competition saw kids from different tennis clubs in Lagos compete for honours in the two-day event.
In a keenly contested U-12 Girls final, Okajare Sunmisola defeated Osayunwa Jael 2-1 (4-6, 6-4, 7-5).
The U-12 Boys final brought spectators to the edge out of their sits with the two finalists, Michael Nekekpemi and Happy Agbi going all out to get a win.
In the end, it was Nekekpemi who won 2-1 (6-3, 3-6, 10-6).
Blessing Otu was in a superb form as she overrun Esther Marshall in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 to cart home the top prize in the U-14 Girls category.
In the U-14 Boys category, Taofeek Mogaji restricted strong fight from Jimoh Joseph to win in two straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
Secretary of the club, Engineer Eleke Justice was happy with the successful hosting of another edition of the tournament.
”Tennis is a global sport and our aim is to help the kids here develop their talents at a young age. This is the sixth edition of the competition and we are glad with our achievement over the years,”Justice stated.
“This year’s edition is a success like the previous years. The kids are getting better with each edition. Soon, we see a Nigerian competing in the ATP Tour. ”
