Alexander-Arnold Hoping For United Favour

Trent Alexander-Arnold is hoping Manchester United can do Liverpool a favour by beating Manchester City at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Liverpool moved back to the top of the Premier League standings following their 2-0 victory at Cardiff on Sunday, but City will return to the summit if they claim all three points in Wednesday’s Manchester derby.

The title race certainly looks set to go down to the wire, but full-back Alexander-Arnold is hoping that United can do them a favour and deny City what would be an 11th-consecutive league win. “It’s important for us to keep up the momentum,” the England international told reporters.

It’s not about how many points we’ve got now, it’s about how many we can end up with and put the pressure back on City. “Hopefully United will do us a favour.” Jurgen Klopp’s side also have a Champions League semi-final tie with Barcelona to look forward to over the coming weeks and they could have as many as six matches still to play before the end of the season.

Alexander-Arnold is certainly hoping that proves to be the case and he knows they will need the entire squad to help get them over the line. “Hopefully we’ve got six games left,” the 20-year-old added. “It doesn’t sound too much but when you’re putting everything into it you need players to come in and out. “It’s good to be able to bring different players in.”
