Kevin Akpoguma always wanted to play in Troost-Ekong’s position. He has the chance now

  • I don’t think that his return to England was injury induced.Baba have seen that things have changed as both his position and captaincy is under threat. The usual excuse is injury; Denis, Musa, and now Ekong.

It is time for a Bassey/Akpoguma partnership in our central midfield. Those two are playing at the top level in Europe.Let us stop using the national team as a rehabilitation center for anyone whose career is going downhill. You cannot be a bench warmer in a division two club side and be a regular in a national team.Okoye case is more pathetic. He left a league where he was first choice and playing regularly for a bench warming role in a division two club side.He became cocky and arrogant.Baba saw that at this point his career is dead without the national team that is why he beat a retreat fast. But his form is a reflection of his situation at Watford.Same for Ekong.I see a move away from Watford in January for both.Denise should also be left alone no matter what he plays at his club.He actually declined the invite because he felt he was second choice to oyekuru! The same way he snubbed AFCON.He has not contributed anything meaningful since he started playing for the national team.He infact cost us the world cup ticket .He lost the ball while trying to dribble a Ghana player on the plank and FAILED to track back to mark the player and block spaces created. This situation pulled out Onyeka from his shedding of the central defence role as he tried to close down the Ghanaian player. This created an acre of space for Thomas partey to shoot at goal.Yaya You’re has said it on international TV that Denise plays for himself. We should leave him alone.

I also think that it is time for a change of leadership for the team. The time of Musa/Ekong is gone.

Ndidi used to be the undisputed choice but with his current form and injury problems it will be hard for the coach to give him the captaincy.it is between Iwobi and Simon.I will prefer an Iwobi to captain the team into the future.

Kenneth wore the captain armband in the friendly with Algeria team B and She shares it with Simon .. so who wears the captain arm band is not a problem…

I will love to see akpugoma in the right back position , he is preferred to aino in that position in the days of rohr, but haven’t been given the opportunity again ever since then ( I heard he played there in our last friendly not sure though) we need options at the right back as Aino will miss one of the games in March.. I see a Kenneth- bassey combo at the back on Tuesday.
