Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed Alisson Becker and Naby Keita are both edging closer to first-team returns.
Both players have struggled for action this season, goalkeeper Alisson going down with a calf injury in the first game of the campaign against Norwich, while Keita has been out with a hip injury he suffered in the Super Cup win over Chelsea in mid-August.
The duo will again miss out on Sunday when the Reds to go Chelsea in the league but they have been working hard on their respective recoveries and both are expected to be in contention for a first-team return at some point over the course of the next month, with Keita tipped to be back slightly sooner.
The Guinea international has finally returned to full training with the rest of his teammates and could, therefore, be ready for inclusion for the trip to Sheffield United on September 28 or the home Champions League group game against RB Salzburg on October 1.
Alisson, whose place has been covered by summer signing Adrian in the first part of the campaign, is also stepping up his recovery and is close to making a full return to training, although Klopp remains cautious over the Brazilian.
Klopp told his pre-Chelsea press conference: “Naby Keita is back in training at least, with the team. Today for the first time with the team.
“Ali is making big progress, but is still away. He had a proper session yesterday with (goalkeeper coach) John Achterberg, but is not in team training yet.”
Liverpool have made a fine start to the season, winning all five of their games so far in the Premier League to sit top of the table but the defence of their European Cup got off to a bad start on Tuesday as they went down 2-0 at Napoli.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
