Alloy: It Would Be Great To Have Ighalo Back In Super Eagles

Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu says he has no problem with Manchester United forward Odion Ighalo making a return to the team.

Ighalo announced his retirement from international football after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The 30 year old player scored 16 goals in 35 international matches and was the highest goal scorer with five goals in Egypt 2019.

The former Watford striker recently stated he would be willing to make a return to the team and Alloy is happy with the decision.

” It feels good to hear that. Ighalo is one the finest strikers around and his earlier decision to retire from the national team really came to us a shock, just the way we felt when Victor Moses opted out,” Alloy told PREMIUM TiMES.

” It was a huge blow when Moses said he wanted to focus on club football and family.
“You can imagine how painful it was when Ighalo said the same thing. Honestly, Ighalo is welcome if he wants to play for Nigeria again.

“I’m not saying the striker on the ground are not good enough, but the return of Ighalo will bring an addition sparks to Super Eagles attack.”

It will be a big mistake should ighalo cone back.personally I don’t want him back and a lot of fans don’t want him back.he did well in the nations cup and might not function well enough if he comes back.we have young players that are even better then him ,osimehn should be allowed to progress, news like this will discourage him and affect his confidence. Ighalo pls stay retired.

Is it not the same Alloy Agu that’s keeping Daniel Akpeyi? His talking so unprofessional, we don’t need Ighalo anymore he has done well, thank you, we have Osigwe, Dele alampasu, you sat there and cannot speak to your coach Daniel services in the eagles not needed. Keep supporting controversy bringing ighalo back.

dumb statement!!! Its about time Alloy Agu vacates that position. Having these type of people with a myopic mindset in the super eagles setup is one of the huge problems we are facing

  • How many goalkeepers has Alloy Agu has discovered since his sojourn as Super Eagles Goalkeeper trainers?

Its shocking that Alloy Agu would make such comments. This is the same mentality that led to Kanu overstaying his welcome in the SE, preventing other younger players from developing.
Ighalo will be 32 by the time Qatar 2022 comes around. Common sense would suggest that he would be too old and slow for this new breed of SE players. We all saw how a sluggish Mikel disrupted the pace of the team during Russia 2018. Even Musa is struggling to keep up with the pace of the current young boys on the team (Osimhen, Simon, Chukwueze and Dessers).
Alloy needs to get off his lazy behind and start getting the likes of Alampasu and other keepers into shape and stop hanging onto the likes of Akpeyi and Ezenwa. 2022 is just around the corner and we need very good keepers!!!
Alloy, focus on your job and stop all this nonsense talk about Ighalo coming back. He’s retired from the National team. Let the youngsters develpp and grow!!!

nonsense talk from Agu, wrong mentality!! he should have just gone ahead to bring back Peter Rufai or Victor Agali out of retirement

  • Ighalo is welcome back to the super eagles if He has decided to return. It is left for the Coach to know whom to start in his team. Super eagles is not mainly for young boys it is for experience players that can be delivered.

We already have experienced players yeah. He has done his part, let’s move on. Forget Ighalo bro.
