Ambrose Released By Derby County Without Playing Any Match

Nigeria defender Efe Ambrose has been released by Skybet Championship club Derby County without any appearance for the Rams, reports Completesports.com.

Ambrose, 30, linked up with the Rams in February after severing ties with Scottish club Hibernian.

He however failed to make a single appearance for Derby County and didn’t make the matchday during his time at the club.

The versatile defender was offered a new contract by Hibernian prior to his move to Derby County but he chose to exercise a clause in his contract which allowed move at his choice time.

Also released according to a list on the clubs official website are former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole, David Nugent, Alex Pearce and Marcus Olsson.

Ambrose previously had stints with Isreali club Ashdod and Scottish giants Celtic.

I dont know what he wanted to prove by moving to England. He was doing quite well at Hibs and was even being begged with a contract renewal. Such wrong decisions as such an advanced age is quite unfortunate

Going back to beg Neil Lennon? Wasted mate.

  • So Ashley Cole still plays football.
As for Ambrose, he was aregular starter in Hibs, now I wonder if China or MLS will be hie new destination

lol @Bomboy, the guy thought he could cut it somewhere else, i really do not think it is pride, maybe we could call it ambition which is not bad. Too bad however he cut it.

There’s more to this happening before we call this boy names. Can anyone vouch that he is a bad player or will Derby just spend on him for no reason?

If only we know what blacks go through at the slightest of chance then we will not run the talk.

Derby is fully aware of his age before they signed him so cutting short the contract is a story for another day.

Oga Chima. Yes, blacks go through stuff, but I think this may be a different case.

You see, what these players are unaware of is that some clubs do sign players for the bench as back-up in case their main players are indisposed. This is why some wise players ask for guarantee of first team football before they sign. Barcelona wanted Ighalo for similar reasons but he opted to stay back in China.

Sometimes it is wise to remain where you are celebrated.

This has nothing to do with race. He was signed as cover for a squad that needed defensive players until the end of the season. the Contract wasn’t cut short at all.

Was he white when he was playing week-in week-out in Scotland..? Was he white when Hibs were begging him with a new contract…? The dude even refused a new contract when he didnt have other offers yet. A bird in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bush they say. He even subjected himself to the ridicule of having to undergo trials first before Derby offered him a contract.
Na im know wetin e dey find up and down. But the young man put himself in this position he is in now….not his Colour….!
