Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose is in line to make his debut for English Championship club Derby County in today’s (Saturday) clash with Aston Villa at the Villa Park, reports Completesports.com.
Ambrose, 30, linked up with Derby County last month after impressing on trials with the Frank Lampard’s men.
The centre-back who last featured for Scottish Premier League club Hibernian penned a short term contract with Derby County.
He played for 60 minutes for Derby County’s U-23 team last Sunday to ascertain his fitness level and readiness for his formal debut.
“He is at the stage to be in contention, to be in the squad for Villa game,” Lampard told reporters ahead of the Aston Villa game.
The Rams sit in seventh position in the Championship table with 51 points from 33 games.
A win against the visitors will help boost Derby County chances of securing a promotion play-off place.
