Amuneke Congratulates Former Club Zamalek On 109th Anniversary 

Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has congratulated his former Egyptian club Zamalek on their 109th anniversary, Completesports.com reports.

Amuneke congratulated Zamalek on a short voice message published on Twitter.

“First of all I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to play in Zamalek during my playing days as a player.

“I also want to use this opportunity to congratulate you on your 109 years of existence. I wish you all the best and I hope that 2020 will be a much better year.

“It will be a year the club will win a lot of trophies, it will be a year that the fans will be happy, it will be a year of celebration. I wish you a very big success.

“Congratulations on your anniversary. Thank you very much. Emmanuel Amuneke.”

Amuneke joined Zamalek from Julius Berger in 1991, made 71 appearances and scored 26 goals before departing for Sporting Lisbon in 1994.

Founded on January 5th 1911, Zamalek
are one of two clubs that have played in every season of the Egyptian Premier League, and one of seven clubs that have never been relegated to the Egyptian Second Division. 

On the continent, Zamalek has won five CAF Champions League titles, one CAF Confederation Cup title, three CAF Super Cup titles and one African Cup Winners’ Cup title (defunct); making them one of the most successful clubs in Africa.
