Amuneke: Tanzania Poor Defensively In Defeat To Algeria

Tanzania head coach Emmanuel Amuneke says his side gave a good fight but lost 3-0 to Algeria due to poor defending in Monday’s AFCON 2019 Group C match at the Al Salam Stadium, Cairo, reports Completesports.com.

The Taifa Stars lost their third game in a row in Egypt in that heavy defeat to the Desert Foxes.

Adam Ounas scored twice, while Islam Slimani got the other goal for the Algerians who finished top of the group ahead of the Teranga Lions of Senegal.

Amuneke concedes that his Taifa Stars were let down by their poor defending in the game.

“It was a good game and both teams gave it their all,” Amuneke told reporters after the game.

“We started well but suffered from defensive errors that the Algerians took advantage of. I congratulate them on qualifying.”

Tanzania lost their two previous games; 2–0 to Senegal and 3-2 against East African rivals, Kenya.
