Janne Andersson has confirmed he is in talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the vacant Super Eagles coaching job.
Andersson has been without a job since leaving the Swedish national team last November.
The 61-year-old has been linked with the vacant Super Eagles coaching job.
The former Halmstads BK coach said he is happy with the interest from the NFF.

“I can confirm that I have had a dialogue with the Nigeria Football Federation,” he told Swedish new outlet Expressen.
“It’s a huge footballing nation so I’m extremely flattered to be in the running to be their next national team coach.
“Dialogue is ongoing and I don’t really want to say more than that.
“I have been in this industry for so long and know that things can happen in different ways. So we’ll see what happen in the future.”

Why can’t NFF, Gusau, and Eguavoen allow the incoming coach to have greater control and say on his backroom staff and player invitations without overbearing interference?
Cos I’m sensing this is the contentious issue causing delays. They want to impose Bosso and co. as assistants and maybe dictate a quota on player invitations to satisfy certain interests. Or do they think their first choice, Herve Renard, will accept the imposition of assistants and player invitation vettings?
Let it be on record that Gusau’s NFF spent the entire 2024 to hire a coach. It probably would be their only “achievement” for the year.
REPETITION OF 2010 OF HOW A COACH WAS EMPLOYED IS ON THE WAY…,,… DESPITE ALL THE TIME THEY HAVE WASTED, I PARTICULAR WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED THAT A WRONG COACH WOULD BE APPOINTED AT LAST . A COACH THAT DOESN’T KNOW ANY THING ABOUT AFRICAN FOOTBALL.
** INFACT , FAILURE IS ON THE WAY. AFCON & WORLD CUP TICKET IS NOT GUARANTY
A good coach is a good coach, many coaches have achieved great things in the past in African football without prior experience.
I guess the nff and Gusau is waiting on their Godfather and dealer Picnic’s approval before they hire a coach.
Andersson is available from this month, yet Eguzero still wanna proove a point. There’s nothing Eguavoen or any rusty local coach can do to be considered suitable for the post. It’s very simple, if you are interested in coaching, ho prove yourself in the African club competition or Europe league.
Until the EFCC decides to probe nff account in the last decade, dumbos will continue to destroy the organization.
ANDERSON SHOULD CONSULT HIS FOLLOW COUNTRY MEN, LAR LAGER BACK BEFORE PUTTING PEN ON PAPER SO THAT HE WILL NOT END UP BEING BRAINWASHED BY TELLING HIM TO OPEN TWO ACCOUNT NUMBER( to create room for looting by management) JUST LIKE IT WAS BEING TOLD BY STEVE GORA ERIKSSON ‘S BOOK (during the time he applied for super eagle job in 2010).
*** And this is the major reason why NFF always go for those that doesn’t know anything about African football, so that they will be easily be BRAINWASHED by management.
#### ANDERSON, BEWARE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Not now. Anderson or whatever will be considered after next month matches.
Eguaveon it is, Andersson; Anderssson, Eguaveon bla bla bla and time is ticking away. When is the Super Eagles next match? Anybody, pls.
In a week plus.
The world and his wife will not be delighted to see a return of Coach Austin Eguavoen back in the dugout for the Super Eagles but that situation now seems an inevitability.
Anyway, based on how advanced talks are going with potential expatriate candidates, Eguavoen’s tenure seems definitely destined to be ephemeral.
I only pray he will be able to mastermind positive outcomes in those matches. Missing next year’s Afcon is definitely a possibility. Benin and Rwanda should not be tackled with kids gloves otherwise they will snatch the Afcon tickets right under Nigeria’s nostrils.
Worryingly, the two matches Eguavoen will preside over will be against these menacing opponents. Both countries managed to milk out a 1:1 draw against heavyweights Senegal in qualifiers for the last Afcon and both currently sit above Nigeria comfortably in World Cup qualifiers.
With these in mind, it passes belief that the NFF and Sports Ministry didn’t move quicker to put in place a permanent credible Super Eagles Head Coach.
This late in the day, Super Eagles fans can just sit back and expect the best.
Nigerian leaders will always make us to think the previous leader was an angel….
We thought buhari was bad untill tinubu became Nigerian president and we started missing buhari….
Pinnic was seen by many as a failed leader….. But today, it’s proven that pinnick was an angel sent to Nigerian football….
Infact, I’m missing Amaju pinnic already…..
A worse leader will always make you to believe that the previous leader was better…..
How can it take over 6 months to find a gaffer for the national team????
Now they want to do trial error with siasia, eguavoen and bosso the same way they did during 2022 world cup qualifiers against Ghana, they were embarrassed after the worse Ghana team ever booted them out even with their 9 wise men they hired to back up AMUNIKE and eguavoen, it took only an Otto addoo, a seasoned ex international to teach 11 coaches how football is played.
We thought they’ve learned their lesson but only to wake up one day and realize that they repeated the same mistake with FINIDI….. After testing FINIDI with 2 friendlies, they decided to hand over a crucial match to him….we all saw the outcome…..
Now they want to experiment with siasia, eguavoen and bosso….. If they win then nff will stick to them and be given a go ahead to handle super eagles…..
I’m not against any of them leading the super eagles, but my question is…..
When last did any of siasia, eguavoen and bosso coached a team????
Why are things always different in Nigeria????
These people haven’t been active in coaching any team yet GUSAU want to hand over super eagles to them…..
At least under Amaju pinnic, qualifications to major tournament was like drinking chill water in a sunny day, but under GUSAU we need miracle to happen…..
Under Amaju pinnic, Minos were positioned where they belong but under GUSAU government Zimbabwe is now Brazil before super eagles….. Lesotho now looks like Germany….. BENIN REP suddenly become Argentina before our super eagles….
We’re watching the drama…… We’ll see the end of this super eagles under GUSAU…..
***SHALOM***
“Zimbabwe is now Brazil before super eagles….. Lesotho now looks like Germany….. BENIN REP suddenly become Argentina before our super eagles….”
Hahahaha. This is funny af.
True. True.
UBFE, I’m in severe pains from laughter.
You no go kee me ooo!
As you said, na siddon look we kukuma dey. My popcorn is ready.
Gusau’s name always sounds like failure to me. Under pinnick we qualified for 2018 WC in a group comprising Cameroon, Algeria and a very strong Zambian side with two matches to spare. Now we are grouped with minnows and we are now overnight prophets and mathematicians.
Countries that hitherto were known as MINNOWS don’t want to be minnows forever.
They are all striving hard to improve.
Compared to countries like Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Nigeria is a football minnow. Yet, we’ve beaten all of them. In spite of our perpetually poor administration, we’ve accomplished much, thanks to the talents of out players.
Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Benin will want to do the same to us.
The minnows may not have much by way of talents, but what they do have is hardworking, competent officials who are determined to move their football forward.
We must respect our opponents. If a country is able to meet us on the pitch, it means they believe that victory against us is possible. If they believe that there is a zero percent chance, than they simply will not show up.
It’s up to our officials to ensure that the advantage we hold over these countries is maintained. Our MALADMINISTRATORS are the reason why the so called minnow countries are rapidly catching up to us.
With good administrators, our football will also be trending upwards. By now, we should be CONSISTENTLY competing with the European and South American giants. But here we are, shaking like leaves in the harmattan wind when it’s time to face countries with much lesser football pedigree.
When the time comes for the Afcon qualifiers next month, the tension will be palpable, BECAUSE AS USUAL WE ARE NOT PREPARED! That is when people will start praying to God to intervene.
God should manipulate football matches for our benefit. As if our opponents are also not his children.
Our football is run by politicians who don’t have a chance in public offices. They see the funds from FIFAand CAF as sources for their looting game. While less fancied nations are securing the services of good tacticians, these nitwits are running to the sport ministry for funds.
