Real Zaragoza have reacted angrily to reports Manchester United have signed youngster Mateo Mejia and insist he is still their player. Mejia, 16, appears to be in demand and has caught the eye of several clubs including Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Arsenal and Valencia, but it is the Red Devils who seem to have made the first move.

Reports over the weekend claimed the Old Trafford giants had persuaded the Spanish sensation to move to the Theatre of Dreams for a fee in the region of 670k euros. However, AS are now reporting that United might only have to fork out 150k euros training rights to secure his signature, and Los Blanquillos officials have clearly had enough.
Zaragoza have issued a statement on their website, which reads: “Given the information in the United Kingdom about the Real Zaragoza cadet footballer Mateo Mejia and the interest of Manchester United for his signing, Real Zaragoza wants to clarify the following.
“Mateo Mejia is a footballer who belongs to the discipline of Real Zaragoza in the Cadet category, linked to the club with a federative card until June 30, 2020. “Real Zaragoza has not reached any agreement for the transfer of this player to Manchester United.”
