Prop Taulima Tautai feels the right decision has been taken after he agreed to leave Wigan by mutual consent. The 31-year-old was convicted of drink-driving on June 12 after being caught driving with nearly twice the legal alcohol limit in his blood after playing against Warrington on May 26.
The Warriors opened their own investigation and it was deemed best if the two parties went their separate ways. Tautai, who joined Wigan in 2014 and them win Super League in 2016 and 2018, told the club’s website: “After achieving great success at the Warriors I feel the time is right for me to take my family home.”
Wigan executive director Kris Radlinski said: “After a series of conversations with Taulima, it was mutually decided he will leave the club with immediate effect after five years at Wigan Warriors.”
