Aribo Makes Scottish Premiership Team Of The Week

Joe Aribo has been included in the Scottish Professional Football League  (SPFL) Team of the Week, Completesports.com reports.

The SPFL unveiled the Team of the Week on their official website spfl.co.uk on Tuesday.

Aribo’s inclusion is as a result of his impressive performance for Rangers, in their 4-2 win at Ross County at the weekend.

The 25-year-old opened his league goals account after putting the SPFL champions 1-0 ahead in the 15th minute.

The Team of the Week which is in a 3-4-3 formation, has Aribo on the right side of the three-man forward.

Commenting on Aribo’s performance, SPFL wrote:”Though County ultimately made it a tough contest, Rangers were back looking something closer to themselves in the cinch Premiership on Sunday, defeating Ross County 4-2 in Dingwall.

“Aribo got them off to a quick start and his link-play between midfield and attack was a key reason in Rangers’ success.”

The Super Eagles star contributed seven goals in 31 league appearances to help Rangers wrestle the title from rivals Celtic.

Nice one Aribo. You will continue to wear the number 10 jersey of the Super Eagles for a long time. No doubt, you are currently the most skillful and most creative player on the team.

Interesting to see that Aribo is deployed as a right winger in this formation. That is where he performs best. He can also do a good job on the left wing. Gerrard once played him as a left wing back and he did well. The dude is a utility player.
But his optimal position is on the wings. May not have the pace of Chukwueze or the dribbling skill of Ejuke, but he is more of a goal threat with his direct, intelligent play. THE MIDFIELD IS NOT HIS NATURAL POSITION. This is part of the reason why he has struggled of late with Nigeria. Especially the DM position. He can play there if he must, but that is not his best position. To get the best out of him, we should use him where he is most comfortable. If we use him on the wings, his goals and assists will increase significantly.
