Arsenal End Osimhen Pursuit Over £85m Price Tag

Arsenal have reportedly ended their pursuit of Victor Osimhen due to Napoli’s £85m price tag and have shifted their attention to signing Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of forwards already this summer with Osimhen also reportedly top of their list after an impressive season in Serie A that saw him score 18 times.

However, the Daily Express are now reporting that Arsenal have ‘baulked’ at the £85m fee that the Italian club are expecting.

They will now turn all of their attention to attempting to lure Jesus to north-London this summer.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta worked with the forward when he was assistant to Pep Guardiola at the Premier League champions and could look to reunite with him at the Emirates.

Jesus could also see his playing time at City reduce next season following the summer signings of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

The likes of Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden are already at the club meaning Jesus could find himself on the periphery next year.

He is also out-of-contract at the end of the next season and City could look to cash in on him this summer rather than lose him on a free in a years time.

Arsenal’s desperate need for a striker was added to on Friday with the news that Alexandre Lacazette will depart the club this summer.
