Nigeria’s medal hopeful Favour Ashe has been disqualified for a false start in the men’s 100m at the African Athletics Championships in Ghana.
Competing in heat 2, Ashe had completed the race before he was eventually disqualified.
Ashe and a Cameroonian athlete in the race, didn’t hear the call-back from the umpires, and were both disqualified after returning to the starting block.
First senior African Championships for both Miracle Ezechukwu and Tejiri Ugoh.
Meanwhile, Miracle Ezechukwu comfortably won her heat to book her spot in the semifinals of the 100m, and Tejiri Ugoh finished third in her heat which was won by Heverge Etame from Cameroon.
Also it was a Very controlled heat win for Rosemary Chukwuma in the women’s 100m heat 2 at the African Championships in Ghana, jogging through the finish with a time of 11.44s.
