Chidozie Awaziem insists Leganes will maintain their top flight at the end of the season, following Sunday’s hard-fought 1-0 away win against Espanyol, Completesports.com reports.
Cristian Arubal netted the decisive goal in the second half as Javier Aguirre’s men recorded their first win in six league outings.
The Cucumber Growers moved off the bottom of the table to 19th position following the win.
Awaziem, who replaced Aitor Ruibal nine minutes from time is confident they can avoid relegation at the end of the campaign.
“I believe in the team 100%. The spirit the guys are putting in the team is massive and I believe we are going to achieve our aim and beat the drop,” Awaziem told AOI Football.
“We are trying our best game by game and we showed huge character today so hopefully we can maintain this and turn it around in our remaining games.”
Awaziem, who is loan at Leganes from Portuguese giants FC Porto has featured in 24 league games for the club this season.
Leganes will face Eibar in their next LaLiga fixture on Thursday.
