Awoniyi Flaunts ‘Belief In God’s Word’ As Power Behind Terrific Form For Union Berlin

Taiwo Awoniyi has been celebrating his terrific form for Bundesliga side, Union Berlin, and the Nigerian striker insists that it’s been God masterminding his progression according to His promise, Completesports.com reports.

Awoniyi, a loanee from Liverpool, has been in great goal-scoring form, justifying the confidence Union Berlin manager Urs Fischer placed in him since injury sidelined experienced former Germany international, Max Kruse, who has netted six goals and five assists in 10 Bundesliga matches.

The former Nigeria youth international was in great form, for the umpteenth time, when Union Berlin thumped home side,.Werder Bremen 2-0 on Saturday. He set up Sheraldo Becker for the first goal in the 12th minute, then scored the second on 28 minutes with Robert Andrich’s assist.

Awoniyi who now has five goals and two assists in 12 Bundesliga games so far in the 2020/2021 season, celebrated his progression on his Instagram page, proclaiming that it’s all about his firm belief in God’s word as recorded in the Bible: Luke 1: 37 [“For no word from God will ever fail”].

“Luke1:37. There’s nothing you cannot do,” Awoniyi submitted to his creator in the Instagram post.

“I BELIEVE, EMI GBAGBO’ OO. OLORUN NI YIO MA JE. Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow till the end of the world.”

The 23 year old is in his seventh loan contract as Liverpool player since the Premier League giants signed him in August 2015. In Union Berlin, he is proving to have rediscovered the terrific form with which he made great loan acquisition, twice, for Belgian side, Royal Exel Mouscron.

Union Berlin are currently fourth in the Bundesliga table on 24 points from 14 games, pending the completion of matchday-14 fixtures today (Sunday, January 3). They will host Wolfsburg in their next Bundesliga match on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
