Taiwo Awoniyi scored twice as Nottingham Forest secured an impressive 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Nigerian striker gave the visitors an early lead, rising highest to head home a pinpoint cross from Dilane Bakwa.
Forest extended their advantage in the 20th minute after Awoniyi was brought down in the box by Malo Gusto.
Igor Jesus stepped up and calmly converted the penalty, sending Robert Sanchez the wrong way.

Chelsea had a chance to get back into the game before the break when they were awarded a penalty following a foul on Jesse Derry, but Cole Palmer’s effort was brilliantly saved by Matz Sels.
Awoniyi grabbed his second of the day to make it three for Forest, finishing neatly from Morgan Gibbs-White’s delivery.
The 28-year-old has now recorded four goals and one assist in 14 league appearances this season.
Joao Pedro pulled one back for Chelsea in stoppage time.

Good one for Awoniyi
I really wish Awoniyi could always be this lethal in an SE shirt, where he’s largely underperformed. He’s not really gelled with the team, and long injury layoffs have not helped.
I agree that injury played a huge role in his performance. Based on their recent SE performance (goal contribution per minutes), he is still ahead of Kelechi, Onwuachu, Sodiq and Boniface.
Besides, in his last 3 EPL (top 3 league) games, he has contributed 3 goals, one penalty, and an assist for his team.
Only Osi and Akor can be considered better strikers in Super Eagles games.
Iheanacho has had better super eagles career than Awoniyi!
I would agree with you,Awoniyi alongside Boniface and Onuachu have been bad for super eagles.
However, I don’t think Sadiq has had good opportunity like the others mentioned above to judge him..
Scoring twice against a mentally and psychologically broken team like Chelsea to me is not to convincing.
Chelsea is at lower elb right now. Even house fly we do just that.
These guys have all missed their glorius opportunities to put their name in hall fame for super eagles. Kelechi has been with eagles for the part ten years, almost same with awoniyi.
This generation of players best achievement was afcon final and many of them are close to retirement age.
Please fans let us forget about these awoniyi today kelechi tomorrow and saudiq next tomorrow.
Chelle please inject alot of fresh legs I mean ambitious leg and not all the a flash in the pan players.
Where is Chelle getting the fresh legs from?Or you meant he should hire mercenaries from Argentina and Spain?Because, our youth teams are not well managed in the past decade,so there has been dearth in the production line.
Right now,we have no budding talents, unless players that requires to apply for change of nationality.Even at that, the best of these talents always will chose there country of birth over Nigeria.
I think Chelle is doing his best to convince a few average talented foreign borns to play for the super eagles. The super talented ones, the likes of,Tomori,Olise,Saka,Musaila,Akanji,Madueke and the rest have chosen their country of birth,we’re left with half-baked and just a handful of good talented players, sadly! One of the reasons we have failed to qualify for back to back world cup.
There are talents in Nigeria not necessarily in the league but you see on the street. The problem has been selection process.
Why I think nff will not want to employ siasia is because they know he won’t consent to their will.
Are we saying all football academy in Nigeria are dead. At least moses Simon is running one currently and active.
But as long as nff keeps interfering in this selection process nothing good will happen.
Awoniyi has scored against all the top teams in EPL (Man coty, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea,). Among the current top 9 in the Super Eagles, he has a better record against top teams in the EPL and the Bundesliga. Osi 9 owns the record for Ligue 1 and Series A.
Now it’s Awoniyi, you have the energy and time to write a long epistle. I hope you are going to double the energy and epistle on the headlines on Iheanacho scoring against unrated team, and the sudden call for his return to the national team.
The fact still remains that Awoniyi is more effective than all the other tested top 9 except Osi9 and Akor.
Go ask Onuachu (Belgium and Turkey Goal king)about EPL, you will understand how top 5 league can expose Temu strikers.
