Awoniyi Misses Out On Nottingham Forest’s Player Of The Match Award

Taiwo Awoniyi was voted third in Nottingham Forest’s Man of the Match award in their 4-3 home win against Southampton on Monday night.

Awoniyi scored two goals as Forest gave their push for survival a huge boost with the win over the Saints.

The Super Eagles striker opened scoring in the 18th minute before doubling the lead on 21 minutes.

However, it was not enough to earn him the most outstanding player for Forest after the final results were published on the club’s Twitter handle.

Awoniyi finished third in the four-man shortlist after polling 16.3 per cent.

Danilo was voted Player of the Match with 47.3 per cent votes, Morgan Gibbs-White was second with 31.6 per cent while Brennan Johnson was fourth with 4.8 per cent.

With the win against Southampton, Forest move out the bottom three to 16th place in the league table.
