‘Awoniyi Need To Start Scoring At Nottingham Forest’ —Udeze

Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has tasked Taiwo Awoniyi to start scoring due to the competition at his new club Nottingham Forest.

Awoniyi joined Forest from Bundesliga club Union Berlin after completing a record transfer.

Since joining Forest, Awoniyi has managed just one goal and has not found the back of the net in their last three games.

He has made two starts in Forest’s five games played in all competitions this season.

Also Forest has done the most transfers this summer and are expected to make another signing before the end of the window.

And Udeze has tasked Awoniyi to start scoring to command a regular playing time.

“In Nottingham Forest there are competitions and as a striker you who want to retain your shirt you need to start scoring goals,” Udeze said on Brila FM.

“I don’t have doubt about Taiwo Awoniyi because I know he’s a good player but I pray he starts scoring now.”

Awoniyi and his Forest teammates will have their hands full when they travel to the Etihad to face champions Manchester City in Wednesday’s Premier League fixture.

Has Awoniyi completed a 90-minute match? Like other Nigerians, he’s been used as a substitute even though he is Forest’s record signing. Like Iheanacho, Dennis, Troost, Onyeka, and recently Ndidi they have not been given starting places, while recent newcomers in the Forest team command a starting place.
Why is this important? Because confidence is an important part of a player’s game. Not commanding a starting place creates anxiety, destroying confidence.
They are not given a long stable opportunity to establish their place, right from signing they are assigned as squad member substitutes.
We no tellam… we tellam they no gree hear!

How would he score goals when he keeps bringing him in 20 mins to the end of the game.
