Bassey Not Ready For Premier League- McAvennie

Former Aston Villa manager Frank Avennie believes Calvin Bassey is not good enough to play in the Premier League, reports Completesports.com.

Bassey has been linked with a move to Aston Villa following a superlative campaign for Scottish Premiership outfit Glasgow Rangers.

Rangers are also looking to sell the versatile defender for around £25m.

Aside Aston Villa, there are also a number of Premier League clubs interested in Bassey.

McAvennie however insists that the 22-year-old is not ready to play in the English top-flight and will get ripped apart by attackers.

“Can he go in and play in the Premier League right now? No,” McAvennie told Football Insider.

“I don’t think he (Bassey) is good enough for the Premier League. If Gerrard is buying him, it’s because he has done a job in Scotland.

“England is a whole different game. He’s muscle-bound but if he comes up against someone like Jack Grealish he will get ripped apart.

“I’m sorry to say Bassey but that’s the truth. Another year up with Rangers and maybe he might be ready.

“At this moment in time, the brutal truth is he’s good enough.”

Bassey has impressed since joining the Gers on a free transfer from Leicester City in June 2020.

The Nigerian international made 50 appearances in all competitions for Rangers during the 2021-22 season. He provided six assists with no goal to his name.

Who is this Frank Avennie, that CSN is wasting this space for? don’t even know him from amongst the cream. Not worth holding a breath for. Imagine him mentioning mollycoddle Jack Grealish. Nonsense. We want to hear the Mbappe, Osimene, Haaland, Benzema, Messi, Ronaldo, etc not a footballer still under his mummy’s armpit.

I’m going to call this guy an idiot because that gbamxactly(exactly) what he is and any one who attacks me for that should kiss my Nigerian behind.

This is the same Bassey the whole of England and Britain said was impatient, was in a hurry to choose Nigeria, that if he waited he would have had his chance with the three lions after they were all amazed by his performances in Scottish premier league and European League that just ended. Because he’s playing for Nigeria and getting praises for solid performances is suddenly not good for the English premiership but was good and should have waited for the three Lions, what an ass hole.

The truth of the matter is, this airhead would not say what he said if Bassey chose England ahead of Nigeria, he would have been saying the direct opposite.

Complete Sports should do their job by bringing Nigerian sports news to the people and stop feeding Nigerians with garbage from washed up airheads like that idiot.

  • Well…let’s Bassey keep doing his talkings on the pitch. This fool need not to rush, he’ll still meet grealish, the English Messi one day.
