Bayern Munich Trash Borussia Dortmund 4-0 In Der Klassiker

Bayern Munich came back from a 5-1 humiliation at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt in their previous Bundesliga game to thrash fellow title contenders Borussia Dortmund 4-0 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday with two goals from top scorer Robert Lewandowski.

He has now scored in each of the 11 league games this season, breaking a Bundesliga record.

In their first match since the sack of head coach Niko Kovac, the champions dominated the entire match in the first top-flight Klassiker of the season to bounce back after last week’s defeat.

The victory will help Hansi Flick’s hopes of staying in charge of Bayern until at least the end of the season.

Serge Gnabry was also on the scoring sheet as the Dortmund defender Mats Hummels who capped a disastrous performance by the visitors with an 80th-minute own goal.

Bayern were in total control of the match two minutes after the restart, Thomas Muller racing clear down the left and crossing for Gnabry to finish after Lewandowski failed to make contact with the ball.

The victory moved Bayern up to the third position with 21 points, also third on goal difference behind RB Leipzig, 4-2 winners at Hertha Berlin.

Table leaders Borussia Monchengladbach would host Werder Bremen on Sunday.

With this defeat, Borussia Dortmund drops to fifth on 19 points.
