However, Onuachu still leads the league’s top scorers chart after netting 14 goals so far this term.
His Nigerian teammate Yira Sor made an appearance for Genk after coming on in the 62nd minute.
Ghana’s Joseph Paintsil was on target and had an assist in the win for Genk.
He has taken his tally for the season to seven after 17 appearances in the Belgian elite division.
The 24-year-old Ghana forward set up teammate Aziz Ouattara to put Genk 1-0 ahead in the 7th minute.
Paintsil then doubled the lead for Genk in the 24th minute before Westerlo scored in the 53rd and 55th minutes to bring score to 2-2.
Daniel Munoz then got the winning goal for Genk in the 64th minute to end the tie 3-2.
Genk, now on 55 points, are 10 points clear of second-placed Union Saint-Gilloise in the league table.
