Belgian Jupiler: Ugbo On Target As Relegation Threatened Cercle Brugge Claim Home Win

Ike Ugbo was on target for 10-man Cercle Brugge who gave their fight against relegation a boost, with a hardfought 2-1 home win against Beerschot in the Belgian Jupiler on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.

It was a return to finding the back of the net for Ugbo who had gone four consecutive games without scoring.

The Chelsea on loan forward scored from the penalty spot on 34 minutes to put Cercle Brugge 2-0 ahead.

It was Ugbo’s 13th goal in 30 appearances for his club in this season’s league campaign.

Just four minutes after Ugbo’s goal, Cercle Brugge were reduced to 10 men following Dimitar Velkovski’s red card.

Cercle Brugge are now in 16th place on 32 points just a point above the relegation play-off spot in the 18-team league table.

… More and more youngsters keep popping up, putting serious squeeze to the invitation question… but hey no, we must continue with those who cant attract usefulness in most serious clubs again, remaining unattached while we continue to give them scarce squad space to get their dimming careers back on track! We like to play it all sentiments when occasions demand nothing but professionalism, yet we want to be counted among serious footballing nations… Keep it the way England does it… invite players purely on performance activity basis… 100%ly on MERIT as of the now. I get am before no be property… “Ball go always know im people” lol… one love guys and make sure to watch Fulham vs Aston Villa later! Peace…

Simmy Nwankwo best stricker in Europe top five leauges.

Crotone striker Simoen Tochukwu Nwankwo equaled an Italian Serie A record in his team’s 4-3 loss to Napoli at the
Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Saturday afternoon.

When he found the back of the net through a right-footed shot in the 25th minute, it meant he has scored in five consecutive matches in the top-flight – seven goals in five matches.

According to Sky Sport Italia, he is the third African player in the history of the Serie A to score for five straight Serie A appearances after Milan legend George Weah in September 1996 and Keita Balde in May 2017.

The Nigeria international first got on the scoresheet against Atalanta, bagged a brace against Torino and Lazio, then scored against Bologna, before another brace in yesterday’s defeat to Napoli.

Simy is growing in stature and confidence this season and 15 goals from 29 league matches clearly indicates his rich vein of form.

The Nigerian is the first player since Paulo Dybala in 2014-2015 (when he played for Palermo) to score in five straight games whilst playing for a newly promoted team.

With 8 goals in 5 matches, no player in Europe’s top five leagues scored more than him in the last one month, including Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski (7 goals), Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema (6 goals) and Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho.

    Cull from all Nigerian soccer.
